Short staffed, nothing helpful can be done in branch anymore. The structure is strange, you need to sit at a table to discuss personal and business finances next to the que of customers and in front of all windowed walls. Have done a switch to Lloyds for personal banking and am in the process of changing my business account over too. In the first week of being with Lloyds I have qualified for a platinum bank account including home insurance, phone insurance, free cinema tickets and roadside cover. Also included with my Lloyds banking: free under 16?s child bank account with interest, full online banking and access to customer services who are extremely helpful and have opened up 3 seperate savings accounts with 4.25% interest and a monthly saver isa with 6.25% interest.
With metro you can only pay cash in the branch and the branches are difficult to get to. Whilst paying money into most other banks can be done at post office and pay points ect.
No money machine, bank charges, shorter opening hours and no coin machine anymore for the kids.

Banked with them since they first opened in Hemel, they started off really good, like others have said a completely different bank to the norm, was open until 8pm Monday to Friday until covid hit and then that was a perfect excuse to close the same time as any other bank at 5pm, the late closing time was perfect for those finishing work at 5-6pm and needed to pop to the bank for whatever reason once they?d finished, Saturday and Sunday opening was also great, open whilst you were shopping on a Saturday and open Sunday if it?s the only day of the week you could get down there. Then they lost the coin machine and now the in-store card making service which was another good original selling point. Their service used to be really good, now you go in there and you are left stood waiting for ages whilst plenty of staff are either sat at their desks staring at a computer screen or just walking in and out of the branch floor from the back door behind the counter, no one ever asks if they can help even if they look like they aren?t currently doing anything. But one of the biggest gripes is the fact that you can never seem to set up a new payee online, they send you an authentication code via text message and every time you enter the code that THEY sent to you it gets declined and it won?t allow you to set it up, yet my RBS app has absolutely no problem what so ever every time I set up a new payee on that. Absolutely useless app, branch, and customer service!

Not open Saturday or Sunday, no coin machine any more, crap opening hours Monday-Friday. Going back to Santander, Metro have shot themselves in both feet!!! Awful turnout from a promising new bank ????? Byeeee

Opened 7 accounts here because it was the only bank we had access to on a weekend. Now, we can't get to deposit our money or the magic money for the grandchildren. It's now the worst bank ever, even the call centre is only open Mon to Fri 9 to 6

A bank that doesn't fail to send unnecessary bank statements in the post couldn't write to its customers to inform that this branch will no longer be opened saturdays and sundays... the main selling point was that this was a bank that would be opened during weekends. Now it's no different than any other banks.

We needed to visit Hemel Hempstead branch as joint accounts can?t be opened online. They won?t offer appointments - just pop in anytime I was told. Guess what? We turned up only to be told that there were no time slots available. The assistant more or less shrugged her shoulders - told us to come back another day. No thank you - a waste of a half day of our time. Two customers lost, Metro Bank!

I came with my friend to open an account before we said anything kaysita approached us and asked me if I had just kissed my teeth at her. The rest of the time she looked at my friend and said nothing else. The whole experience was very rude.

Rubbish customer service . Slow..... staff stood around doing nothing than helping and strongly recommend avoiding them - inexperienced staff & poor/rude customer service. Merto bank staff don't understand people who got a Disability or Autism......

2015 I have a accident,I almost lost my live ?. In this bank ?. When I have a accident inside the bank I still a casttumer. 29th June I have another request for the to the Magesty Court. The Metro Bank in Hemel Hempstead branch don't cere about the customs at all. The have a past a fev accident they not doing they don't care about security seif bank. They care just about the money. Like I tray sey the Metro Bank in Hemel Hempstead is not a seif please. I almost lost my live ?.I n this back.

As someone who supports family businesses with MetroBank I strongly recommend avoiding them - inexperienced staff & poor/rude customer service.
