Super rude staff, came here to have a shot with my friends as a birthday came around, acted like we were criminals and treated us really rude. we gulped our drinks at the bar and left straight away because they were so horrible and dismissive - dont come here

I went to see a friend I hadn't seen for a long time. There is loads of parking - first 90 minutes are free and if you stay longer then you have to pay extra. It's very deceptive from outside but inside is massive. We ordered our drinks and some food. I am vegetarian but my friends loved their chicken wings/nuggets and I ordered chips and on the whole food was good. Afterwards we ordered more food incl. garlic bread!! It was sprinkled with garlic powder!!! which is not really what it said on the tin. Very disappointing but overall the atmosphere was very good and the staff were very friendly. Service was very efficient and quick. Hatfield is about 40 miles from where I am in East London. But I will be going there a lot from now on. A must visit place for a drink and some food.

UPDATE (August 2025)
I come here quite regularly now - usually for a breakfast/brunch, sometimes for a later meal.
Wide choice of menu and food is good. As a Spoons, it's good value for money. Plenty of seating inside and out
The pub is large and looks nice inside.
Sometimes there are issues with the coffee machine and occasionally staff just serve the first person they see rather than who has been waiting longest.
TIP: Sundays late mornings are not a good time to go - very busy and short staffed, resulting in tables not being cleared.

Some Customers are antisocial and aggressive
One Bar Staff member posted false about me online with my name and address. It's totally unacceptable.

Came with my boyfiend and my family for my nans birthday. My boyfriend went to the bar to order a beer and forgot his id. when we ordered from the app they came with drinks and insinuated that the guiness was actually for him when it wasnt. They then proceeded to tell us that they would be watching our table to make sure he didnt drink any alcohol. This really dampened the mood as we were only trying to enjoy a birthday lunch. The woman who came over with the drinks also immediately had an attitude with us and was speaking to my boyfriend and my family in a very acusatory tone. Everytime a staff member would come outside they would always be watching our table. My nan got upset about the substantial amount of mayo in her burger that ruined her appetite. My mums chicken burger wasn't that great, it stank of an actual farm outside at the enterance and we kept seeing rats in the smoking area.

The service is not good at all. It's been a year. We came here and today they asked us for ID. They didn't ask us in the first place, when we used to come, but now they ask. I have no problem showing ID, but after a year, they ask and don't serve us, which is completely rude and unacceptable. After showing ID, the manager says we can't deliver the drink because it was already made and we can't provide a new one as we have to see the stocks. I see the bartender giving shots to their friends for free thats favouritism. This doesn't make sense. I don't recommend anyone come here. They treat you according to their mood, which is not good and unacceptable. If you want to ask for ID, ask from the first day you visit, not after a year, and say no, we can't serve you because you look under 25.

Since Tom has taken over, pub is striving for a more successful business. Operations seemed to of improved since January, standards and atmosphere so much better to be around. Staff are always working hard seems to be always on the go.

Poor service at the bar! Miserable young man. No customer service. Never asked if I wanted ice in my glass! I didn't ask for chips so they were sent back! Won't be making a return! Watered Barn is much nicer!

A spacious place inside and outside, many tables, no music. Drinks - I see a spectrum. The food is heat-treated from the refrigerator, fresh food is not abundant, the prices are normal. There are hourly promotions convenient for visiting with the whole family, birthdays and similar events.
