Celebrated my stepson?s 16th birthday at Pizza express in Harpenden yesterday 16:02/2025! The staff were absolutely wonderful and friendly, the food was amazing however the only thing that put a slight strain on the day and sad to say on the staff as well was their manager! For one very in appropriately dressed, wearing a top showing off her stomach is not appropriate attire for working in a restaurant and certainly not as a manager, two the manager was NOT very friendly or welcoming as matter of fact she was the complete opposite! You could clearly see this had an effect on the staff ! Which is a pity because the staff were absolutely amazing! The manager should not be in the management position with her horrible attitude and inappropriate clothing!

When you walk in it smells amazing. When the food came out it was far from amazing. Chicken was tasteless with an odd consistency. Waitress used her fingers to sprinkle the cheese when she thought no one could see her. It was overall, over priced and underwhelming.

We had a group booking of 8 people for a work get together. We requested a table we could all sit around which was granted and nice. Waiting staff were friendly but service a little slow and it was quite, but food was nice when it came out. Cocktails also nice. It is slightly on the expensive side but there are certain deals on the menu such as family meals or set menus which you could take advantage of. There is a good range of pizza on offer and a few pasta and salad options so plenty of options

I ordered a pizza with vegan cheese and rang to confirm this as the app didn?t let me add it on. When I called I was told yes no problem a note was made on the ticket. When I collected it I asked again and was assured it was vegan cheese. When we got back to the hotel, my partner said his normal cheese looked very similar to my vegan cheese and I should call and TRIPLE check. I did and mentioned I?m cautious because it?s an allergy, and was told yes it?s definitely fine. I ate about half of it before I got a phone call from your staff member profusely apologising saying no it wasn?t vegan. I then had a flight early the next morning and was nearly too sick to make it.
They took my details and promised to call me and discuss it further but never did. Not even a refund.
Don?t go here if you allergies or intolerances. Honestly 0 stars.

Really disappointed with the unprofessional, rude service received this evening at the Harpenden restaurant by the waitress serving a table of 10 people celebrating a birthday. Telling them to hurry up after placing drinks down to order their food because they were busy. Was just the start of the disgraceful behaviour and appalling service that was received.

Classic pizza express!! Always good food and amazing service. Reasonable priced and goood vibes. Dough ball?s are obviously a must as a starter! A MUST! Get the roman based pizza if it?s your first time, never fails. Service was quick for a Friday night. Atmosphere was loud and a lot of people. Hard to hear your own conversations. But I suppose that?s a nice environment to be in sometimes. Definitely go go go go. Always love a good pizza express from time to time.

Our server Wiola was brilliant. She was patient, accommodating and very helpful. She had great knowledge of the menu and was so friendly. My family and I would visit again thanks to the service we received from her!

This is our third time at this pizza express and it?s the third we have left disappointed. A family of five ordering starters, mains and desserts. We sat down and had to ask the waitress to serve us, only some of the starters arrived so I told them not to bother with the rest. The mains came and were ok, my romana pizza base was burnt. The dessert was ordered and again they didn?t have some of the items we wanted. When the bill came they still had the audacity to charge for the starter that we never received. All in all the food was ok and the service was poor. We won?t be back after today!

The staff are always welcoming, attentive and considerate of our needs. They take extra care with our allergy requirements, which gives us peace of mind. The Harpenden location has become our regular location.
