Full disclosure: I don't really like country pubs due to too many memories of bad food, sticky carpets, sullen teenagers with poor customer service and unwelcoming, cliquey locals who stare at non-locals when they walk in.If ONE pub could change my mind, it would be this one! We came for a long, extended Saturday lunch. The menu was extensive, and catered to all tastes (typical pub lunch fare alongside more bistro style offerings such as the cod loin risotto I had). The service was excellent: Meg in particular was very joyful. The food was excellent: Starters of corn ribs, roast camembert and olives went down well and they brought out extra bread at no additional cost. The risotto main I had was very flavourful, and my friends loved their cheeseburgers/ sausage and mash respectively. We had one pudding, the rhubarb and custard pie which was a perfect sweet-sour. The post-lunch coffees were great, with a good range of dairy alternative milks.Our table was only booked for two hours, so we moved outside, and after about 15 mins, one of the team let us know they'd found us another table inside, which was very thoughtful.There were many (friendly!) locals there too, which is nice to see (knowing that it's a community hub as well as a place for out of town visitors like me). Dogs are allowed which pleased me greatly as I got to hug two puppies.

Stayed for 1 night with my partner, in the premium room and ate at the pub.Pros: Food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. Lots of easy parking. Nice play area for kids. Cute patio with Tables and property backs up to field with sheep.Cons: The room was pretty bare bones, which is fine if you?re prepared for that. The bathroom was the biggest issue with no shower, and a claw foot tub only. Would be a challenge for ppl with mobility issues or elderly.

I met some friends at the Sword Inn Hand for drinks and dinner, and had never been there before. I was super-impressed!Located in a lovely rural hamlet, they are a true country pub. Their dinner menu was excellent and everyone was very pleased with what they ordered: starters, main course and dessert.Thoroughly recommended.

Had a fantastic lunch here today - friendly staff, absolutely delicious food and a lovely surroundings. A real cosy, country pub - will definitely be returning!

Oh Dear, over the years we?ve eaten here several times, and have always thought afterwards shall we go again?They were excellent and helpful for my Fathers wake a few years ago, but something just appears to be missing.We gave it another go tonight for my wife?s 60th,slow to acknowledge our arrival, left embarrassingly kicking our heels at the door, once noticed staff were charming, we were however pushed to order quickly as kitchen was closing, this was 8.20?!Food very good, if a little contrived (I was General Manager for the Roux Brothers so I know!In the end we waited so long to place a dessert order we gave up paid and left.The balance between Pub, Restaurant and local is a difficult one to get right.Shame as it?s local, but we?ve decided that was the last time for us!
