Good place for shopping
March 2024 by Roger Lindley (Lindleys)
An excellent supermarket conveniently located on the edge of Bishops Stortford (which also has a much larger branch in the very centre). It is are supermarket of choice. There is plenty of free parking. At little cost, 'Click and collect' as well as home delivery are available and very convenient.Service is generally reasonably quick but, as with all supermarkets, there are occasions when there are queues.Customers have various shopping options - traditional checkout - self-checkout - digital scanning - etc.Spacious aisles and well-stocked shelves make it easy to find items. The fresh fruit and vegetables are particularly good but 'best before' dates can be a little short. The bakery is always worth checking for specials such as Walnut cob - a Saturday lunch for me with a special cheese, olives, tomatoes, etc.Prices are competitive and many items are 'price-matched' against local competitors. The only complaint I have is that all Sainsbury's store share a central customer contact number which involves a long wait in a queue only to be told to use twitter (now X).Often we just need to know if a frequently out of stock item is available. Customer service in store is faultless but step outside and it becomes almost none existent.A recent example. I was missing a credit card after visiting the store. My only choice was to drive 12 miles to find it was not there. In fact, it was at the bottom of one of the shopping bags!!The delivery drivers do have the store telephone number but are not allowed to share it!In this day and age, with so many supermarkets to choose from, Sainsbury's need to be more customer focused.

Prices in Local Store are extortionate compared to main shops. In a small town with only this or a CO-OP and poor transport links I feel it is very unjust for the people that have no option.

Very busy and quite expensive to get in and have a coffee and cake while your children are playing. The car park token system could be made easier too. It's just OK

Old food out on display (particularly in the meat section). Staff charging at customers as they tear around the shop floor with no due care. Managers openly mocking those with learning difficulties. Groups of staff messing around whilst huge queues build up and they just idly stand by putting more import into their conversations than the needs of their customers - welcome to Sainsbury's at Jackson Square.

They bump up prices for non-loyalty card users. Very peculiar obsession with monitoring customers' shopping habits

The stock levels in this store are appalling. The majority of shops here I leave with less than half of what I came in for due to things being out of stock. Annoying to access when the rest of the shopping centre closes at 5:30 too.
