Barclays Bank Bishop's Stortford is a Great Branch, they have automated machines providing most services and options for you to do your banking in a simple efficient way and staff are always professional and helpful ?

Friday 3rd Feb 2023Whilst you queue to be served , the helpful lady asks you if she can help...she then directs me to wait for help from one of the desk staff at the back. The lady I was finally directed to had very little knowledge about my specific product query (and she herself said so!)This did not fill me with much confidence at all. She went and asked one of her colleagues for advice...moving on she wasn't sure about the pros and cons of anything or what was and was not allowed with the product I was interested in. Whilst I was able to do what needed doing...I left with many unanswered questions. So initially only 2 stars but.....Update:Went to branch again today ( 6th Feb 2023 at about 3 15pm...it was much quieter) to get more clarity regarding my ISA. This time...the lady handling the queue was amazing. She fully resolved any lingering doubts I had regarding my ISA product after making all necessary enquiries. Well done. 5 Stars.

Awful service. Could not open an account there or book an appointment and was told to use the App and phone up to make an appointment. Will use another bank.

Appalling service. Too many helpers standing around and not enough trained people to actually help with your account. Trying to open a joint account - have decided to take my business elsewhere.

We are out of the pandemic now. Why don't they open the counters? There's customer helpers walking around who's efforts would be better put to use on a cash desk. Joke.

Barclays Bank Bishops Stortford has some of the rudest, most patronising 'front of branch' staff I have ever come across. Who employs and trains these people? Clearly, they think Fawlty Towers are coaching videos.

this branch is an absolute joke. there are some very helpful pleasant staff, and i appreciate it is not their fault, but having one person there to deal with what seems like a myriad of requests, while 3 or 4 others mill around doing nothing with customers waiting is rather frustrating. Sat in branch for 30 mins waiting to see the apparently only person who can deal with my need to transfer money for a house purchase. Can only do a small maximum transfer per day on the app, can only do a larger maximum over the phone, so was told to go in branch, cant do it at counter, so waited 30 mins and the ONE member of staff who was dealing with this kind of request was still sat with the same customer as my parking time ran out so i had to give up.EITHER: Close all your branches and let us do everything online OR EMPLOY MORE STAFF or at least get the staff employed to help with customers. My house purchase is now delayed as i have to do several transfers to the daily maximum over the phone (which by the way takes 40 mins to get through to anyone too).

Fanastic service -well done!Just one problem. Your investment arm has just won you a place in Corporate Watch?s November 2021 ?Wreckers of the Earth? directory for being the number one European investor in fossil fuels, injecting $145 billion into the industry over the past five years.Shame for the staff who work so hard. Shame on the investment arrm...

I'm really disappointed that Barclays continues to be the worst bank in Europe for investment in fossil fuels, $104bn since 2015. The IPCC report says that we must STOP fossil fuel investment NOW to avert climate catastrophe and yet Barclays continues to endanger all our futures.
