Had a wonderful dinner here tonight with my daughter? Adam was our waiter and he was terrific? really friendly, excellent service and gave us great advice on the menu too. Will definitely be going again soon, thank you Adam!

Lovely pub, came here yesterday. Atmosphere was great, staff too, and we stayed for the evening in the end.
The food looked really good from others tables so looking forward to going back for a meal.

I'm sad to reveal my latest visit, (lunch), leads me to the conclusion this restaurant is on a gentle decline.
Whilst things weren't all bad, the food quality, from my perspective, was certainly not outstanding and the service, whilst polite, was meek and lacking any real personality.
Highlight dishes were cheese soufflé (which was really rather delicious), and rhubarb trifle (which sounds unusual, is unusual, and was amazing).
The online menu, gives away more information than the cardboard one at the dining table, in that a few select options have accompanying colour photographs to temp you. I wish I hadn't looked at this before my visit, because I set my heart on one of these selected meals, the sausage curled up on a bed of "bubble and squeak" all sitting in a wash of mustard grain sauce. The photograph is a hard sell which won me over. Reality can be a harsh comedown.
Total meal well overpriced in my opinion.
Won't rush back.

Have been here a couple of times now with my boyfriend, and we always really look forwards to it because of the absolutely delicious food. It?s on the slightly more expensive side in Berkhamsted but is totally worth it for a special occasion. The restaurant is separated from the bar and has a nice quiet atmosphere. Also very friendly, helpful service.

My daughter went with friends and they had to wait for their booked table as it was very busy. Starters came with mains 45 minutes later, and her food was wrong. She has food restrictions, so when requests are made not to include items on the plate & this is ignored, the food for her is inedible. She was so overwhelmed by the awful experience, she ended up sitting outside.

The service was a little slow, but it was a very warm day and nearly everyone was drinking cocktails so that can triple the time it takes to serve drinks - so completely understandable, particularly when the cocktails were some of the best I've had in a pub.
The food was very impressive and whilst you can get your usual standard steak and burgers, their food and drink menu is very diverse.
Will definitely be returning!

This is a favourite for me and my family. A good selection of drinks and a nice ambiance for a drink and a chat. The food and service are always very good too but we didn't use the restaurant on this visit.
Parking: There is a small car park behind the pub and residential street parking out front. There is a multistory car park behind the pub also.
Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome.

Amazing. Really delicate dishes. So hearty and flavoursome.
Vegetarian options: Vegan hariciot bean soup, vegan ravioli and apple and blackberry Crumble. All to die for. An hours drive but we'll worth it...

2nd time here. Both times in the restaurant and food is really good. I also want to compliment our waiter Will who was amazing - friendly attentive and helpful with menu choices.
