We popped into the three tuns as we were driving through Ashwell and needed some food. We were delighted by the cosy atmosphere, warm and friendly welcome from the barmaids and the amazing food. I had the sausages and mash which was incredibly filling. The red onion gravy was a lovely addition combined with the high quality meaty Lincolnshire sausages. The buttery mash and greens were plentiful and I felt very satisfied with the meal. A really lovely classic and highly recommended to anyone who visits!
My partner had the cod and chips and was equally delighted. The portion size was more than generous and was seasoned to perfection. The batter was light yet crispy and the accompanying fries were evenly cooked. We didn't visit the garden as it was early evening but I spotted a beautiful play area and spacious garden which I'm sure will be lovely in the summer. Overall we had a lovely experience and would gladly revisit on the next passing through!

This is an English village pub and hotel, with restaurant.
We visited the pub and restaurant for a late afternoon meal, and very nice it was too
2x curry, 1x fish and chips and 1x sausage and mash, with 4x drinks came to £60 inc tip, all due to a wednesday afternoon bogof deal.
The bar was very quiet, but the food very good, so overall recommended?

Had evening dinner here, so cannot comment on the rooms
Food and drinks: Had evening dinner here, it was superb, good size portions and cooked by the new chef to perfection. We had the chilli garlic prawns, mushrooms brie bruschetta starters, steak mains and the Biscoff sponge and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert Service by Harley was top notch too Didn't use the hotel rooms so cannot comment.
Would definately recommend going to eat there.

Came her for dinner tonight for a date night. It was great! I will definitely be back for more. They have a new chef in and he clearly knows what he is doing. The mushroom burschetta was excellent and the addition of blue cheese boosted to whole dish to a new level. Pie was incredibly rich and the mash was buttery and delicious. Really can't fault it at all. Looking forward to bringing friends here

Very nice meal, good service, friendly and professional staff. Dogs made welcome but not in the restaurant.
Walkability: Easy walk from the campsite, and a stagger back. May be dark in the winter take a torch.

Dirty pub
No service for 10 min - stood waiting at bar
Saw through to kitchen - a man standing there with a cigarette in his hand in middle of kitchen.
Food arrived - took a bite- it was cold- informed waitress - who was very good - took it back- then the same slice of toast & egg came back out- it was not replaced - took a bite of it- no flavour at all. My husbands full English tasted very bland.
This was an impromptu visit my husband wanted to take me out for breakfast! Very disappointed
Food and drinks: Awful

We stayed a night here and can highly recommend the cooked breakfast. Dave, the chef produces the finest poached eggs that would do justice to any Michelin starred restaurant. Has to be the best cooked breakfast around! Go there and try it!
We had a delightfully quirky, large period bedroom, maybe a little dated but individual with some lovely original panelling and we had a comfortable bed, lashings of hot water for a long soak in the large bath. Far better than corporate, contemporary bland. Generous tea making facilities and hooks everywhere! Wonderful.
Every member of staff was helpful, friendly and charming, letting us drop off a bag much earlier in the day and not returning to properly check in until just before closing time.
We cycled around the area and this is a great base to explore this beautiful part of the country.
Ashwell is a gem of a village and we will be back to stay at The Three runs again soon.
