First time there. Super disappointed. Roast potatoes too small. No carrots the greens on plate looks like the last of the bunch. The food was cold and Beef over cooked. For £18 a Sunday roast the dinner didn't or taste very good. My trio of desert the roly Poly was rock hard and dry. I wanted to complain but family ask me not too. Let's rather vote with our feet.
It's a shame as Baldock hasn't got any nice Restaurants with decent pub food of meals anymore. You have to go to Hitchin or else where.

Waited ages for staff to take our order then ages for plates to be cleared. Soup was cold!

Lovely starter and roast dinner however the roast potatoes were too small and not crispy. They were served white. The rest of the dinner faultless and my crispy squid and husbands chicken strips were delicious.

Sat in the quiet corner with a group of loud men next to us. No issue with some jolity but why at full volume?
I asked the manager to ask them to be a little quieter, but he wouldn't.
Lamb shank shepherd's pie meat was tough, the shank had dried out and not tender.
We'll wait to see if they reduce the bill, two shanks not eaten. The other dishes were good.

Great service, very average food

Went there today with my mum, I ordered the crispy chicken strips starter and mum had the pork and apple starter. Sadly my chicken strips were far from crispy, they were instead chewy, tasteless and very pale. My mums starter was OK.
For my mains, I had the vegetable dish, which consisted of 2 mushrooms, 1 half a tomato, 2 small patties of sweet potato, a small chunk of pumpkin, 2 bits of pepper, half an onion some peas and chips. The chips were soggy and cold and the veg was tasteless, rubbery and non descript. I had halloumi as a side which was way overcooked. The veg dish was extremely poor for £17 + and the halloumi, well was not worth the money charged.
The only saving grace was the service was good.
Overall, unimpressed, and lack lustre. I won't be going back that's for sure.

Hearty pub food off a traditional menu. Staff were excellent.
The place had character identical to a load of other English pubs, and the atmosphere suffered a bit from it being so open plan.

Here to update my review - the management seemed to have made many improvements and the service was much better than before! The white girl in glasses with a ponytail was really friendly and professional. Food was nice too!

I must say I'm totally disappointed with the customer services after taking my family out today for a breakfast birthday. Service was very pushy, being told when we arrived that if I wanted to add a disabled child we would have to make room in the space we had. The restaurant was practically empty and I did pre-book but sadly my son with the disabled child had been delayed Nd I was told the table we had is needed and booked out from midday. I felt extremely embarrassed as I was treating my family which included my 83 year old mother with two of her great great grandchildren. Absolutely appauling behaviour
