Strangers to this area as we were staying in the area for a wedding. What a wonderful welcome we got at the Unicorn. It was Fish and Chip Friday and despite not being a Fish and Chip lover these were amazing. We followed with Banana Split and Chocolate Fudge Cake. Where else can you get Banana Split these days. Amazing. The lady behind the bar (Mum to the owner) was delightful. This pub deserves to do well in very challenging times. Cannot recommend enough. If you're in the area please give then a visit. Thank you to the owner and her lovely Mum ??????

Tuesday = Steak Night. Delicious medium-rare steak with healthy chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings, perfectly cooked to order by friendly chef. Friendly bar maid serving good range of local beers. Great atmosphere with friendly (and eccentric) locals. Bar with pool table, restaurant, outside seating. Dogs welcome. Check out their Fish and Chips on Fridays, and Sunday Roasts.

Nice little village pub. There's a couple of decent ales and the standard pub grub menu, including a couple of veggie options. Plus, they have the sports channels, and the staff are really welcoming.

Little gem of a pub. Loved the steak and ale pie and chicken tikka. There was only one guy serving at the time, but he was so friendly and efficient, even with the pub being quite busy. It was greatly appreciated that he opened the kitchen early for a couple of tired and hungry tourists. Would live to have come again, however circumstances led to us leaving the area early

The very good Sunday lunch was exceptional value for money (£12 - June 2024). Interesting selection of local ales. Very friendly and welcoming staff and chatty locals at the bar. Recommended.

We had the most delicious Sunday roast here, 7 adults and 4 children. The food was hot, delicious and plenty of it. Service was lovely, beautiful old pub with the fire roaring, pure stunning. We will definitely be returning regularly.

Aldi ping and ding for £15 yes your know you choose it?s a great place been refurbished really nice. It needs a great chief doing great food. I can see what there looking for numbers quick turn off over which in turn give you poor service and most of all poor quality food once is enough. I also felt sorry for the old guy sitting in a little booth on his own in the bar area !!! A bar area is for drinking and chatting and not for putting more tables in to screw more people never again more places around better quality for the same money GOODBYE !!

Checked into restaurant by a young lady, ordered drinks, no interest in us at all. Told the table number, and waited ,wasn't told we had to order at the bar. Eventually we ordered, the food came within minutes. The dishes were scalding hot, been under a light I suspect. Sausage cheap, veg had no taste. The roasters had been fried in fat fryer and tasted awful, was dirty fat I think. Paid bill and left. Had booked for boxing day,but cancelled it. This place needs a new chef and some serious staff training.. Would definitely not recommend.

We absolutely loved everything about our night out. The food and the service were second to none. All four of us WILL be back

Excellent lunch time menu. Dishes that are filling but won?t break the bank. We had the all day breakfast at £8.75 they also do soup and sandwich for £7.95 plus many other dishes. This menu available mid-week lunchtimes . Judging by the amount of people in the pub, it is proving very popular.

The Unicorn came highly recommended by a friend so I booked a table for Sunday at 6.30 in the restaurant. When we arrived there were more staff than customers. The staff appeared to be more interested in their conversation than the service. We were told to sit wherever we liked because there was no one in the restaurant. We took a seat in the bar area and checked out the menu. I had to go back to the bar ( and wait to be served again) and order drinks and food. Whilst the food was very good when it came, the service left a lot to be desired and maybe some customer service training is needed. Nobody asked if our meal was ok or offered desserts when collecting our plates. It was just before 8pm when we left as the staff were clearly waiting for us to pay and leave. The bill was loaded on the till and the bartender waiting with the amount already on the card machine when we went to the bar. I was under the impression that they were open until 11pm? Having worked in hospitality and it?s not rocket science that the fewer the customers the better the service should be! This has put me off returning to the Unicorn which is probably unfair as we could not fault the food.

We were looking for a place to eat after a nice hike up Pen Y Fan, on our way back to our Air B&B, but were struggling as it was bank holiday - so glad we found this place! Nice and quiet, food was great and service was excellent! Got to sit with our dog outside but were told we could sit inside with her if we wanted - definitely recommend if you?re passing through ??

Such friendly helpful place to eat. Looking at the menu there was nothing I could eat due to my food intolerances. They made me a gorgeous tagine which was delicious. Great selection of gins and great beer. Welcomed the dog as well which was a big bonus as we were in a holiday cottage so we couldn?t leave him at home. Thank you for making us feel so welcomed.
