I like Shires rugs so ordered two direct from the website. I placed the order on April 18th and there was some delay in sending it out, but it was Easter weekend so okay. However, Shires seem to think that using Royal Mail is a good idea? Maybe it is where they are based but they are next to useless where I live. I was at home all day and on no occasion did my doorbell ring but I did find two cards poked through my letterbox on the 24th, one saying the parcel would be redelivered the next day and one saying the parcel was at their depot and I needed to collect it. Having looked online I was informed that the parcel was waiting for for me collect it, at the depot, some 30 miles away! I could travel five miles to get a similar rug of another make from one of two local shops! When I arranged to collect it I found that if I want the rugs within a reasonable time I'd have to pay another £12 for them to be delivered! The alternative was to wait almost another week for free delivery or to get the parcel delivered to a local Post Office which would cost me £1. My horse is 29 and her field mate has been tearing her rugs, thus I needed to replace the rugs quickly and with something tougher, hence ordering from the Shires website. Now she will have to wait or I will have to purchase two rugs from the local saddlers. I spent £170 on these rugs and can't really afford to spend that again.
Most suppliers ceased using Royal Mail a long time ago because their service is poor. Shires, please get your act together and use a delivery company that is reliable. I won't be purchasing from you again until you stop using Royal Mail.

I contacted shires over an issue I had with a lunge cavesson for my daughter and I have to say what a wonderful customer service received the lady I spoke to Sarah went above and beyond to help me all I can say is shires your amazing and you have made a young girl very happy thankyou for everything

I have owned 3 pairs of assorted Shires boots and these have lasted much better than some of the more expensive brands. They are instantly comfortable, don't rub, are waterproof and smart enough to wear out and about, not just on the yard. I used to suffer from cold feet during the winter, but the boots keep my feet toasty without having to wear thick socks.I recently had a small issue with the lace on one of my pairs. I sent a message on Sunday night and by Monday lunchtime a replacement was in the post.Great looking, durable, comfortable boots and at a great price.My partner queried the need to invest in two pairs for my birthday, but you can never have too many pairs of boots!

Brand new fly mask with fringes worn once and stitching has broken and fringes fallen out. Explanation from Shires is that the horse must have rubbed on something, it is not faulty and they won't exchange or refund without me paying to send it back. Appalling product & customer service.

Amazing service. We were desperate for a pair of Aida slim fit boots for a competition last weekend and after a phone conversation on Tuesday with extremely helpful staff at Shires they were despatched the same day and arrived the next Lovely quality boots and we are very much impressed with your superb service. Thank you so much.

I have been dealing with Shires Equestrian for 20 years. As both a trade and retail client.In my experience they are one of a tiny few who during the last recession did not compromise quality for price or pinch on rug sizes to squeeze out the last penny.They work with us as fellow business people even though by volume we are a small company.Their attention to detail and quality of their products is the reason you buy from them, it's their humane and personable service staff that make sure you come back.I am proud to call myself a ''Shires'' man.Keep it up Malcolm, Festus and all your colleagues.Thanks for the last 20 years and here's to the next.Alan Ward
