We were disappointed that the "steam room" in the health spa was chilly. None of the staff seemed surprised, or to care.We chose this hotel because of the spa facilities and felt a bit let down.

We came here for a relaxing mini break before the busy-ness of the Christmas period and we had the most relaxing time! The spa was divine and they are very generous with how much you are able to use the spa for an overnight stay. We planned to go and visit Hereford but ended up staying and using the spa instead because we enjoyed it so much. The gym has limited equipment but enough for you to get in a good workout. I wanted to book in a massage treatment too but unfortunately I left it too late that Gemma was fully booked so I recommend booking in early! The food was delicious, well priced and the menu had a good variety of dishes. The staff were all super friendly and made us both feel very valued staying there. Overall it was a brilliant stay and there was a lovely atmosphere in the hotel. Thank you.Rooms: The beds were very comfortable. The room was cosy but had plenty of space , clean and kept a nice warm temperature. The shower was fantastic too - great power and got to a nice hot temperature.Food & drinks: The food was delicious - especially the salt and pepper calamari. I liked that the menu had a good variety mixture of traditional dishes that you don't often find nowadays (bread and butter pudding, kipper for breakfast), classic dishes (steak, lasagne, pie) and also oriental dishes (Asian curries and starters) - there was something for everyone! It was also a reasonably priced. There was a good atmosphere in the bar too - it seemed a popular and safe place to have a drink.Noteworthy details: The spa is the absolute highlight of the hotel. It is kept very clean, it wasn't too busy and has a very relaxing atmosphere. There's a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and the pool. It was the perfect way to relax after spending some time in the gym. I'd recommend taking your own flip flops and/or dressing gown if you want them as they only provide towels. This was not an issue for us but for some this may be important.

I have stayed in this lovely hotel on a number of occasions.It is a revelation to find a hotel of this superb quality in a small Welsh town.The staff are friendly, efficient and the food is excellent.The pool and Spa facility are as good as in hotels that charge far more than the very reasonable room rates that are the norm here .So well done John and the team at the Burton Hotel
