Pleasant setting. Room was clean and comfortable. Minimalistic dining area. Tidy and natural light. Food quite good. Well presented. Guinea Fowl good. Summer pudding average.

Drove 40 minutes through the middle of nowhere for what was supposed to be a cracking pub meal ? only to rock up and find the place completely, utterly, stone-cold shut.
Google said open. Website said open. Reality said ?piss off.?
No sign, no update, no apology ? just the delightful rural experience of wasting petrol and your evening because someone couldn?t be bothered to click ?closed? online. Not even a chalkboard or a sad little note in the window. Just dead silence and locked doors.
This isn?t 1997. If you?re running a business ? especially one in the middle of nowhere ? update your damn hours. It takes 30 seconds and prevents scenes like us standing in a quiet car park swearing at our phones like abandoned Deliveroo drivers.
Total joke. Won?t be back ? not risking a round two of the magical mystery tour to Nowhere Pub.

Superb Sunday lunch, called in (not booked) whilst visiting Wigmore Castle. Staff very helpful, really tasty roast pork lunch, and lovely desserts. High quality food not your average Sunday roast.

The Oak itself is a beautiful building, with it's own car parking out the back and on street parking nearby - impressive, considering the small village it's in.
The rooms are excellent, a perfect (in my opinion) of classic features with modern touches - such as the period bedroom with a beautiful modern shower/bathroom.
Breakfast was amazingly tasty, and the very friendly dog, Corey, welcomed us, showed us his toy, then sat a little way from the table - he never once glanced when our food arrived, let alone showed any sign of wanting any, definitely a very well behaved boy.
The staff were very welcoming, understanding and accommodating.
We also had dinner here too, which was amazing. It's definitely a fine dining experience, with everything cooked to perfection and with very nice flavours. There were half a dozen choices for each course, so not a massive menu, but the options were varied and there appears to be something for everyone.
A beautiful place to visit, and one I would look for any excuse to rebook, and have whole-heartedly recommend to my friends and family too.

Stopped at The Oak for a meal last night with my wife. We both thought the food was incredible. We had Chateaubriand and some sides. In truth it was the best steak either of us had tasted anywhere. Also good to see a local beer available, which was served perfectly. What a place. Thanks so much. We will be back.
