No booking but made welcome. 5 star for home cooked food and friendly service. Highly recommended. Relaxed atmosphere .

Near perfect pub. Very well kept Timothy Taylor beer, lovely warm welcome, lovely old building, excellent food (even for vegans), and very dog friendly. Small quibble is that it's not closer to Essex where I live. :-)

The boys, 11 and 9, had a children's meal each. It was very good, they rated it 8 and 9.5 out of 10! The portion sizes are very generous. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is a nice atmosphere in this pub. The wood burners are a nice addition and help to create a cosy environment.
