Sat in the lovely spacious pub garden in the shade of a tree. The pub was dog friendly and the playground looked fun. The food was delicious, fairly priced with generous portions. The staff were helpful and friendly and we?d definitely return.

We parked in the pub car park and popped in for a drink before settling off on a 4 mile walk across the countryside skirting Marwell Zoo and back to the pub. Which has well kept gardens, a pond, plenty of seating and a play area for kids. Upon arriving back the publican and his lady remembered us asking how our walk had been. We ordered Sunday roast each and when they arrived both dinners were superb and with a wonderful selection of vegetables on a separate plate and they very kindly included a sausage for our dog.
The food was very reasonably priced as were the drinks. This pub deserves the 5 star review. I am sorry that I did not ask for the landlord and his lady's name but I would like to say a big Thank You to them both

We visited The Ship Inn on our way home from Weymouth, and what started as a random stop has quickly become a must-visit checkpoint for future travels. The staff were absolutely brilliant, so welcoming, friendly, and understanding of the chaos that comes with six adults, four children, a baby, and three dogs!
They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. The kids were quickly sorted with their meals and ice creams, giving us a rare and much-appreciated chance to enjoy a stress-free meal. The food was lovely especially the delicious pie!
The large garden was a real highlight, with plenty of seating and space for the children to play. It?s the perfect spot for a summer pub lunch, and we?ll definitely be back.
See you again soon!

Came on a lovely sunny Sunday and grabbed two of the plentiful benches out on the lawn (3pm). Gorgeous place, lovely pond and great play area for the kids. Hosts were lovely, beer choice was fantastic and food (Sunday roasts) was amazing - would highly recommend.
FYI - photos are old so there isn?t a canopy however multiple umbrellas over benches and trees to provide shade

Popped in for a Sunday roast after a trip to Marwell. We were warmly greated by the owner who made us feel very welcomed
The food was amazing! Piping hot sides, big Yorkshire pudding and amazing roast spuds. Highly recommend the honey roast gammon and nut roast!
So much food that was not enough room for pudding!
Deffently will be back again!

Really nice pub! We went for a couple of drinks and the atmosphere was really nice, the building is well done out inside with a mix of old and new, and the garden was a lovely place to sit

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch here today as a party of 4 meeting up. Huge portions of perfectly cooked great tasting food, roast beef, roast chicken, and haddock and chips, after a massive bowl of whitebait as a starter that was big enough for a main meal ! See you again guys, thanks for a great time.

Possibly the best pub I've found in Hampshire and I've been looking for a while ;-)

The service was absolutely top notch, really helpful and genuinely lovely people. Food was plentiful and delicious, the children all loved their food, and the adults all agreed that it would definitely be on the list to revisit!

We booked early April for lunch on the 3rd May. At the time, the website didnt say the pub was closed. A nice guy called Daniel confirmed our booking in writing (email). On the 3rd we walked an hour with two children to the pub only to find it closed for refurbishment and had to walk an hour back. Ive had no response from the pub but its a pretty poor show to take bookings when you know you are closing for refurbishment (they must have known with a month to go) and then not to inform existing bookings that they would be cancelled. Noone answered the phone, responded to my email or would even answer the front door. Terrible service and approach to customers.

It?s not a pub in the traditional style. And it needs a whole lot of atmosphere and some vibey staff.
