WARNING !!!!!Absolutely Shocking!!!! Please please stay away do not fall victim like I have I'm utterly devastated!!!! fraudulent scam !!!!
1. 7/3/25 Payment was made to OYO for a hotel
booking in Winchester Wessex Hotel by Sunday
for six people staying in 3 separate rooms for 15/3/25 - 16/3/25. Booking Details (ID: T74X7363) 2. A few minutes later I received an email confirmation of the booking, but the dates were wrong. Instead of the dates I entered, the dates were for the current day of 7/3/25.
3. After reading the email, I followed the
instructions under manage booking, to ring the helpline (0203 887 0032) but was cut off and unable to get through. As such I found a new number (0203 769 7045) on the OYO website, after 3 further attempts, I finally got through to an adviser where I tried to explain that an error had been made with their system and the
dates for the booking were incorrect. I was passed through different advisors where I tried to explain that I didn't want my money back, I merely wanted them to amend the dates to the
correct dates I entered on the original booking.
Unfortunately, they were not helpful and took no
responsibility for the error. They would not amend the dates to the correct ones and informed me cancellations had to be made before 09:00 on the day of arrival, fully aware that it was currently 19:30 on that very day. The call was ended after receiving a customer support email
address, where I was told to send a copy of my passport and driving licence to have a dispute ticket raised.Ticket ID: 2757923302
4. 7/3/25, I emailed the customer support desk as
advised, but to no avail. A ticket was raised but quickly closed with no resolution. I emailed them several times, where they eventually blocked me from sending any further emails.
5. Having not resolved this matter with the
vendor, I rang the Hotel directly using the number on their website to see if they would be able to
help me. The phone was answered by a lady who informed me it was an incorrect number, and she was tired of receiving calls about the Hotel which she has nothing to do with.
6. Once I was able to take a breath, I had this overwhelming feeling I had been the victim of a scam. As such I took to Google and searched the telephone number. To my horror, there was mention that the number was associated with booking scams. I then conducted a search on Trust Pilot for OYO. Again, there were numerous accounts of the company failing to supply
adequate service to its customers.
7. Finally I rang my bank to inform them of the
situation and try to have the payment stopped.
Unfortunately, I was told the payment could not be stopped, but they would freeze my debit card and have another one sent in the post. This experience with my bank was quite overwhelming. They were most unhelpful; I was at
my wit's end, and there was nothing I could do about it.
9. 8/3/25, To add insult to injury, I received an
email from OYO informing me the rooms I had allegedly booked were now ready to occupy along with the allocated room numbers. This all came some 10 hours after the rooms were supposed to be vacated according to their bogus
booking.
All in all this is a terrible company that you should avoid like the plague! I am now massively out of pocket by hundreds of pounds and there is nothing I can do about it.....
However after seeking advice from the citizens advice, I am now looking into taking this Fraudulent company to a small claims court to get my money back !

Looking to go for a review of their premises licence after being woken at 04.50 for an hour by biffa waste emptying receptacles of glass and rubbish, how dare they arrange for this to take place at this time of the morning. This is a breach of their licence. They could arrange it for after 7am.

After checking by phone and email that hotel and bedroom were accessible for a wheelchair we Stayed last night 29th march for one night only. To access the room in wheelchair or any mobility aid you have to go around the back of the hotel where you then have to navigate a very large lip which we only just managed to get over.
We then proceeded down the corridor where I had to go onto an electronic step lift which was very shaky.
When we got to the lift it was very difficult to get the wheelchair into the lift husband had to put me in then run up stairs to get me out.
The bedroom was very small for the price they are just relying on the cathedral view to win you over.
Disabled bathroom was non existent was unable to bathe as there was only a bath with shower over it.
Could not even wheel around bedroom. Entire stay was a nightmare.
Would never book again. Room cost was £127.26 room only.

Great location near the cathedral however the hotel is tired and in desperate need of a update in all areas. Horrible smell along our corridor. Won't stay here again!
Rooms: Tired and dated
Walkability: Near the town and cathedral

Hotel very tired . Very noisy area . Rubbish lorries emptying from 5am . Not much sleep had . Building shabby outside not very appealing . Wouldn?t come back

The hotel staff were lovely and the reception area feels welcoming. The hotel rooms are a completely different story. None of our lamps nor our fridge worked so we had to go back down to the lobby. There was also a huge stain on the carpet near the bin (which looked like blood), the rooms didn?t feel welcoming and were very dated and unclean. We were only staying for two nights and spent most of our time exploring Winchester, had we been there longer I would have asked for my money back and gone to the travel lodge over the road. This is DEFINITELY NOT a 4* hotel and certainly not worth the current price.

Not a 4* hotel, rooms are very out dated, the bathroom was filthy when we checked in and had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. I was too disgusted to take photos. Locations the only thing going for this hotel but I would not recommend to anyone. The glasses that we were served drinks in smelt like drains, probably recommend cleaning your dishwasher. Was not impressed at all.

Great location right next to the cathedral with views out the window and in the high street, however the rooms need serious work especially the bathrooms. Toilet so close to the wall and toilet roll holder that you're literally leaning to the side to use the toilet, bathroom lock broken, a good 4 inch gap under the bathroom door so you can hear everything, extractor fan broken with a mountain of debris all around it waiting to fall on you. The wardrobe has one single usable hanger and that's it. Breakfast was good all you can eat help yourself kind of thing, however normal eggs would have been nice, the only egg was very runny scrambled and they were not nice at all and we could hear multiple people saying they tasted weird and seeing many plates going back with the egg left on them. Take the hint no one likes the egg. Would stay again as the sleep was great and in a good location.

Had a wonderful couple of days. Everyone was so polite from reception, bar, breakfast and housekeeping staff. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back. Delicious food from a small menu for dinner. Breakfast very relaxed with plenty of choice. This is a photo I took from the dinner table I was sat at.

A very central location for this character hotel. Whilst the room was spacious, albeit a bit tired looking it was fully of character and a view towards the cathedral.
We were greeted by a very smiley, friendly Magdalena who informed us that our room was ready early, however as we were heading into the town there was no rush. She shared her local knowledge and provided us with a map. A great personal approach as we arrived and then as we left.

Fabulous location, easy car parking, pleasant rooms, good breakfast buffet. However, whilst clean, the property is looking tired and in need of refurbishment

Good hotel in a fantastic location for all that Winchester has to offer.
The hotel is a bit tired in certain places but generally good.
Bar drinks prices are very good for a 4* hotel.
Car parking is underneath part of the hotel.
Highly recommend and look forward to returning.
Rooms: Good sized bedrooms. Lacked enough coat hangers. Heating took sometime to build up but eventually was fine.
Walkability: All major attractions are a few minutes walk from the hotel.

Really good location. Service is good. The hotel and rooms are a little dated and could do with a little tlc. Car park is £15 a night and is small with tight spaces. I did pay for a bottle of wine for the room as a surprise which unfortunately wasn't there on arrival. But a quick text sorted that
