I recently held a dinner for 40 professionals at Forte Kitchen. The team at Forte Kitchen were super helpful both before my event and during it. They made us all feel very welcome and the service was perfect ... good without being intrusive. The food was delicious and totally suitable for the event and very good value.

Review of The Hatch ? Winchester
The Hatch on Parchment Street is a little gem in Winchester. Whether you?re soaking up the sunshine with an espresso and a pastry at one of their outdoor tables or enjoying the cozy atmosphere inside, it?s always a great spot to take a break.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, adding to the relaxed and inviting feel of the café. It?s the kind of place that gives you the perfect excuse to pause for a coffee?whether you need a quiet moment or a catch-up with friends. Highly recommend!

Good food and atmosphere but not the service. Took a long time to get someone to take an order and took an incredibly long time for our food (just sandwiches!)

Decline from wonderful to average. When the forte opened, it was exemplary for excellent food and service.
This time, the breakfast dishes were good / OK/ average. Nothing special.
Service is from a team of charming, attentive, efficient young people. They looked after us very well, including getting a cushion for my wife.
The room was cold, if I may be so bold.
Queues for the loos - there are only two. Knowing that there are people waiting just the other side of the door can be er ... inhibiting.
The decor shows some imagination and creativity but doesn't feel cosy.
It's worth trying.

Enjoyed the food and nice big pot of tea but all let down by the devil's work - sugar lumps! Please provide granulated sugar so people can take EXACTLY the amount they want.

A very disappointing visit overall. I found a very small shard of metal in my son's pancake. The staff apologised but could not source where the metal was from. Looking at the kitchen equipment as I passed by it's clear they need to get new pans at least. Absolutely caked in carbon. Other than that the pancakes were dry and very overcooked, my daughter didn't want hers. My egg on toast was very minimal and sad looking. One thin slice of toast for 2 eggs. Very stingy and disappointing. Because of the metal I wasn't charged, that's the least they could do. Sorry, I shall not be returning. So many other great cafes in Winchester! I'm off to Josie's for pancakes next time!

Disappointing experience, food was alright but service really wasn't what we'd experienced before. Took a while for someone to take our order, then a fair while for the drinks and felt like we were supposed to have known our table number and that we had to pay downstairs when we'd never been told that or had to do that on previous visits.

Such a lovely cake of the day, the perfect ratio of sponge to size. Also great service, and a wonderful, out-of-the-way street.

We enjoyed a breakfast here, the food was really good, fresh tasting ingredients and some great choices. I particularly enjoyed the smoked trout in a roll.
The service was a little disjointed, food came before drinks and we had to ask for cutlery.
We ate outside and the view down the high street was lovely to look at. Ordering was very easy in the hatch on the front of the restaurant.
Would recommend for a meal out in Winchester.

Went to the Hatch coffee shop that is part of this restaurant. Wonderful coffee and some very nice looking food. Staff were wonderful and helpful.

Decided to pay this place a visit today and sat upstairs. Perused the menu and myself and partner ordered a coffee each and a croissant and scrambled egg on toast.
After 30 mins not even the two drinks had arrived. We decided to give it another 5 mins and then we would ask where the order was or leave.
Just as I was about to get up the waitress came over and said they have misplaced the order!!
Disappointing to say the least.

As an American in England, in 11 years I?d never had a really good fried chicken sandwich. Then I visited Forte. Amazing sandwich and I only had the lunch version, I?d come back just to try the other ones!!

Very good coffe and excellent location on route through Winchester. Cycling-friendly, helpful staff.
