Impromptu stop for lunch, party of 7. Needed gluten free (there’s always one), excellent fish and chips. The chef makes his own batter. Great portion sizes. We were very well hosted. Ask about the well in the cellar. Fascinating! We’ll be back.

Popped in for a little drink and got persuaded to try some food and wow!! The BEST burger I've ever had! And the homemade burger sauce was stunning. The Hare & Hounds Charlton Down is a traditional country restaurant in a beautiful setting just north of Andover, in the depths of leafy Hampshire. Under new management since January 2024, we've recently undergone a refurbishment and expanded dining area with patio doors opening out to our extensive garden terrace.
We offer a carefully-selected range of wines, beers & lagers and a range of excellent, traditional, locally-sourced Hampshire produce, all freshly home-cooked food. Whilst we’re renowned for our fish dishes, tender steaks and famous half lamb shoulder.
We're also have the facilities and plenty of experience in catering for private functions.
