I came here for drinks on a Sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was really great. The service is friendly and prompt and makes for a good experience.

Popped in for breakfast afterca dog walk on the common. Great food, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, what's not to love. Outdoor seating is comfortable and sheltered from the wind and perfect for a summer sitdown with the dog.

Southsea Beach Cafe is one of those rare spots where the setting is just as memorable as the food. Located right on the seafront, it offers stunning panoramic views of the beach and the water, making it a perfect choice for a sunny day or even a cosy visit when the weather turns. The interior has a relaxed coastal style with plenty of light and space, while outside seating lets you enjoy the sea breeze. The menu focuses on fresh and seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on quality over quantity. I started with smashed avocado on sourdough topped with poached eggs, which was colourful, fresh and full of flavour. The seafood chowder was another highlight, creamy and hearty with plenty of prawns, mussels and fish. My companion had the beer battered haddock with chunky chips and minted mushy peas, all cooked to perfection. For dessert, the lemon tart was bright and zesty with a buttery base that melted in the mouth. Service was friendly and relaxed, matching the laid back atmosphere of the location. Prices are fair considering the quality and the unbeatable view. This is a place that works equally well for a lazy breakfast, a light lunch or a sunset dinner, and it is somewhere I would happily return to time and again.

Tasty food and lovely beach views
I ordered the gluten free fish and chips and it was delicious. There are quite a lot of gluten free options too. The staff were very helpful and friendly, however the food is quite expensive

Came in for breakfast this morning, food was amazing, unfortunately FOH let themselves down.
Lots on shift, standings round talking, forgetting orders (basic ones likes coffee), one member of staff drinking their coffee whilst customers waiting for theirs. Staff didn't look like they wanted to be there, asked for napkins to be given scrunched up ones that looked they had been shoved in a draw for ages.
I know it's know the end of the world, but it's the standards you have worked hard at to maintain just seems to have not been there today. Disappointing.

their Brunch Burrito and Truffle & Parmesan Fries are definitely recommended! It's such a nice spot right on the beach

There no eye contact at all from staff not even can I help they just kept walking past.In the end we just got up walked out. Customer service was awful need more training & will not be going back.

I have been to the SBC quite a few times over the years and each time I have had the same experience. The food about scrapes above average for a beach cafe and as for value for money I?d say it?s a little expensive for what it is, however the service is positively terrible. The last time I went (and I mean last time in the past, present and future tense), two crucial elements of the dish I had ordered were missing and for just about 10 minutes we were calling for our waiters attention but somehow through the thicket of empty tables managed not to see us?! Eventually our waiter was called over by another member of staff that brought light to our predicament, this seemed to unsettle her as she looked completely unwilling to come over to our table as if she actually had to work on shift (I know shocker!). Once alerted to the missing food she replied with a snark ?Ok? Anything else??, a different tone and a small apology wouldn?t have gone a miss. What?s more is throughout the entire meal we weren?t checked on once and had to go up to ask for water, again after waiting to be noticed, when asked for water I was told it would be brought to the table even though it was sat in the fridge she was stood in front of and it took another 10 minutes to come, again they must?ve been so busy with the empty tables? It?s also not nearly as clean as shown in the pictures in fact it can be a little bit grubby at times, especially the loos. Overall I would not recommend, as I say this is a typical experience at the SBC, that I?ve also heard from many friends and family.

The location of this place was brilliant. The food was hot and well presented. The chai lattes were delicious! The avocado on toast was a little too chilled for my liking but that's only a personal preference.
