A very authentic and cozy place :) the employees are nice, but a bit hard to reach. We probably came in a very busy time. The room was lovely and it felt like being in a 1700s movie. If you accept that the floors are creaking and the bed is not level, then you will have an amazing time :) The atmosphere was excellent and dinner was great! They even have live music and sports.Noteworthy details: The room had a secret door that led into a stairway up to a sitting room in the attic where you could relax completely.

Pop in for a drink here quite regularly and atmosphere is a relaxed and friendly, but can become a bit loud in the evening. Have also had lunch and evening meals, which have been good quality.

We went to The Crown for dinner one weekday. It's a really nicely done pub. Very traditional with a good selection of drinks behind the bar. We thought the food was a little overpriced for what it was and the burger bun was quite soggy unfortunately! But, service was great and I'd happily give this one another go.

Popped in for a meal with family. A varied well thought through menu, the food was lush and reasonably priced. It's a pretty pub with loads of character. It is really popular and very busy when we went I would advise booking a table. Will be back next time I'm in the area.

We selected the Crown Inn for our vacation so we could experience staying in a local country inn. It exceeded our expectations in every way. First, the staff were extremely nice and welcoming, and ran the place like it was a family business. By spending a little time in the pub, we met many of the local inhabitants and really enjoyed their company. We got more that we bargained for when we found out that the Crown Inn was the place where Admiral Villaneuve was "imprisoned" after his defeat at the Battle of Trafalgar. And I must say that the food was the very best that we enjoyed in our week-long vacation in England. I will highly recommend the Crown Inn to anyone visiting the Portsmouth area.Food & drinks: The food at the Crown Inn is tremendous. We had both dinner and breakfast there. We especially enjoyed the Chicken Kiev, the Chicken, Ham, and Leek pie, and the delicious breakfast. Probably the best food we had over a week in England!Noteworthy details: Being a student of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic era, I was delightfully surprised to find out that the Crown Inn was the home to Admiral Villaneuve during his "imprisonment" following his defeat at the Battle of Trafalgar. The locals were very proud to point this out.

The Crown is quaint, themed very comfortable. It is a working pub full of character. We have stayed there many times and always look forward to our visits.Rooms: The rooms are quaint and themed to the age of the building and it?s history, they are named after ships and officers that fought in the battle of Trafalgar, the last visit we stayed in Pelley.Food & drinks: The breakfast choices are good and always well presented. The restaurant and bar meals have always been very good.

Had dinner with my partner last week. Service was a little long, whether to be seated or to take the order. There weren't many staff members but our waiter was calm and nice and he didn't show the stress he must have had. We did wait a little long for the food to come out. My partner had a burger. Nothing special. I had the fried scampi, I thought that they weren't fried so my bad. Careful when you bite into them hot water sprays out. Nothing special either. The atmosphere was nice and romantic. There was a party and live music on the other side which was great to join but they had finished singing by the time we ate. We will probably come again for a drink and enjoy the music.
