Badly neglected and in desperate need of a proper refurbishment. No deli, no fish, no cheese counter. There are 2 levels above the store that are wasted. Why not utilise more of the space for stocking a wider range of goods?

Sainsbury's is a clean, well-organized store with great products, fresh food, and friendly service, making it a pleasure to shop there.

This store is in the heart of Bitterne. In size it is bigger than a 'local' but smaller than a superstore, like Portswood or Hedge End. This means that some products are just not stocked, especially larger sizes. Having said that, it is possible to do your weekly shop and there is a decent selection of fresh produce.
The store can have very long queues for the self service checkouts and there are very few where you can interact with a person. Often the queues are shorter at the front of the store as most people want to go out to the car park.
Speaking of parking, there is a large free car park at the back of the store. The local council have said it will be 'pay & display' soon. This will probably kill the vulnerable town centre as I suspect many people will go to other centres nearby.

New to sSotn anyway & first time visiting any Sainsburys for a long time. Happy that I did. Store clean and tidy & well stocked especially as it's Christmas. Staff calm and helpful and pointed me at things I needed. Checkout guy amazingly helpful. Sadly, I didn't notice his name but he was cool & soothing about the till system, put me straight very kindly and went and found me a Nectar Card to knock £s of my current bill ant to take home and register. All in all very impressed and left feeling cared for. Will be back. Thanks to all.

Popped into Argos and have to say the staff were lovely.

I ordered online through deliveroo from Sainsbury's Bitterne, Southampton. The replacement items they have given me are absolutely stupid. Instead of garlic they gave me basil, instead of salted crisps they gave me cheese and I'm lactose intolerant, instead of Poppadoms they gave me bread sticks and instead of still water they gave me flavoured water. Who in their right mind replaces garlic with basil and expect the customer to be okay with it?!! It's utterly stupid. Same with bread sticks, instead of Poppadoms?! What in the world. And water, they couldn't have given me any other still water? The stor ran out of every still water? I don't drink flavoured water. And they expect me to eat cheese crisps when I'm lactose intolerant. I can understand things going out of stock, but the audacity to replace them with things not even remotely sensible and expect me to nod along with is disgraceful.
And oh yes I tried contacting the store every time to be greeted by a automated machine who don't understand a word I say and just cuts the call. Then I contacted the customer service and they asked me to contact Deliveroo.

Came in on a busy Saturday and literally noone was manning the tills, of which they only have two. I therefore had to wait for the insanely busy self service till (which both trolleys and baskets have to use), which only had one poor member of staff operating all of them who looked stressed out of their mind. I was buying alcohol and had to wait so long for them to approve my purchase I could literally have gone to another shop. Sainsburys cutting more and more staff out for the equation whilst they hit record profits year after year is disgusting.
