They've got fair prices and nice and clean rooms. Not much else to say.

One of the best hotels that I have stayed. Really close to the high street.Breakfast was lovely. Room was large enough for us. Great to have sauna gym and swimming pool on

Great service but the rooms can let in noise from the hall but it wasn't very noisy when we stayedService was really good but the hotel restaurant can get full, there is a McDonald's and a tgi Fridays about 3mins walk awayClose to town centre only about 15min walk with Asda about 10min walk awayAll the staff were amazing and very helpful and it was good to use the gym, sauna and the swimming pool would definitely come backRooms: Good size rooms with a bath and showerNearby activities: Town centre nearby with a cinemaSafety: Windows are secure and key cards to get into roomsWalkability: Cinema about 10mins awayAsda 10mins awayTown centre 15mins awayTrain station 10mins awayFood & drinks: Didn't have food or drinks but the main restaurant can get busy

meeting room for work by the company. Busy car park. Have to register with reception for parking. EV parking available. Meeting room was in the 5th floor but the toilets are placed in the ground floor. Key cards didn't work but was then rectified. No drink machines on the 5th floor conference rooms. Don't think they have Aircon as the fans in the rooms said they are not air-conditioned.Walkability: Close to west quay shopping and plenty of restaurants nearby. Walking distance to train and bus station

This particular experience has won the worst Novotel experience so far, starting from the arrogancy of Front Office manager during 23:00 check-in. Hotel, corridors, rooms need to be checked by the Accor people of France as this hotel would not qualify as a Novotel in any other part of Europe. Hotel needs refurb and it is definetely smelly. Rooms are spacious however still feels outdated and carptes definetely need in depth cleaning. Breakfast was fun with a lot of guest and minimum number of staff who show all the effort that they are overwhelmed by number of guests. If this was the first Novotel that I had stayed, I would have never set foot in Novotel again.

We stayed here for quite a few nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were friendly and did everything to make our stay pleasant. The hotel is in a good position within walking distance of shops, restaurants and bars

Hottest hotel ever stayed at. I get there's no air con but I felt boiled rather than well rested. The sound of fog horns and noise from the port was a real treat. If I really have to stay in Southampton I'll look elsewhere next time!

We stayed overnight at the Novotel Southampton before boarding our cruise. We were impressed by the accommodation, catering and friendly staff. We were able to wait in the lounge before leaving for the ship and were looked after extremely well by Yvonne the Reception Desk Manager - she is a wonderful endorsement for the company.

Don't let the pool and gym facilities fool you, once you step past reception this hotel feels like more like a hostel. Dated rooms, no air con, terrible food! At breakfast the next day, you could just tell everyone had had a terrible night's sleep. We booked a superior family room which had a tiny toilet, separate from the bathroom with no basin and I feel like I was cheated out of my money. I wish I could say dispite the room, the staff were amazing but honestly they just didnt have the hospitality experience /service you'd expect at a 4 star hotel. Please avoid this hotel and don't make the same mistake we did.

Our stay was very poor value for money. We booked two rooms several months ago to stay prior to a cruise departure. On arrival, the staff member on reception appeared confused and told us she had already checked someone in under our name (?) After about 10 minutes, this was resolved and we were allocated another family room. The hotel reception area is lovely, however once you use the stairs or leave the lift this changes completely. Our room, although clean, was very dated (walls thick with anyglypta, dated carpets and worn, battered doors). The bathroom was more modern. No air con and instead a cheap fan. The room was very hot. No bottled water as promised. When we entered our room, it was set up with a baby cot rather than the sofa bed we had booked. The staff member from reception who had checked us in walked past and when we pointed this out, she came in to rectify it. The bed was changed, however the bedding was literally thrown on top before she left so suddenly (without a word) we thought she had gone to find a different duvet or something, only she never came back and I had to make the bed myself. This hotel purports to be rated 4 star. When we checked in I noticed bar menus on the tables by the bar. I asked the reception staff to confirm if we could order from the bar menu at any time. She advised that the menu I?d seen was available in the restaurant only from 6pm. When we came down to eat, we found that the restaurant was an entirely different menu, and unsuitable for children. The bar menu I had seen and asked about was in fact available at any time. We did eat in the bar, and the food was freshly cooked and nice, although I felt overpriced. The kids menu was better value at £6.99 for three courses. When clearing our plates, the staff member stopped in the middle to take a mobile phone call which I thought was rude. Our night?s sleep was adequate. The bed was fine, the pillows awful. As mentioned, the room was very hot. After reading recent reviews I was concerned about bedbugs, however we (thankfully) didn?t experience this. Our other room was the other side of the hotel, and was very noisy with constant sirens from the police station opposite. Breakfast was again, just adequate. Juice tasted watered down. I don?t even know what the marmalade was supposed to be, but it was liquified. Cereal tasted cheap and the milk was long-life rather than fresh. The kids liked the pancake machine. We wouldn?t stay again. The hotel is in no way a 4 star, and is very overpriced for the quality of the stay. We paid £200/night and were disappointed.

Paid £230 for room. Adult breakfast is £18 each. Feel ripped off. Room is very dated, no air con just cheap fan, no bottled water, my bed sheets were torn (took pictures). To speak with guest services u have to call a mobile phone from yours. No phone in the room. Room is small. Pool can only have 12 guests at one time. Complained to guest services, spoke to manager on phone and sent many texts to get a £40 refund when they saw the pictures

Good corporate style large hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are plenty of them around. The room I had was good, clean and spacious. TV worked well. Was pleased that windows could be opened slightly for fresh air as in many large hotels you can't. White wood chip walls in bathroom and toilet seemed a little dated/out of place. Breakfast buffet was good, the only thing I didn't like was the marmalade - obviously the cheapest they could get, it was like a synthetic gooey substance that you extract from a container and it wasn't too nice, but that's a minor point. Overall this is a decent hotel that lived up to expectations. There is a small swimming pool here and a fitness room which is a big attraction.
