Popped into this village pub after my Bank Holiday Monday walk at Selborne Common.
Was a really good village pub and a big shout out to the lady who was on shift to help me to connect my phone to their Wi-Fi as they don't get signal inside.
The pub car park is small but you can park in the Selborne Common Car Park if you're going walking.
They also have a playground for children and a fairly sized beer garden.
Dogs are welcome too.

I did not buy food. They do not stock low or no alcohol beer, sadly for those of us who do not want to do alcohol but like a beer to drink.

A real village pub where dogs and kids are welcome. A decent playing area is there for them. The chairs and tables have little in common. The floors, walls and ceiling are not flat or even, and I think the wooden beam insets are real. Plenty of outdoor space, away from the road.
The food was modern European fusion and delicious. I had the starter baked goats cheese wrapped in Parma ham, with a side of chips which made a light lunch. What I was looking for. Wrapping ham gave a salty crisp contrast to the creamy baked cheese. The hazelnut and wild rocket pesto was a good idea. Tasty but more subtle than a traditional one. May see if I can make some.
Price was fair.
Staff were friendly and competent. We arrived 1:30 and were warned some of the things on the menu might take awhile. I suspect already prepared ingredients had been used. But I appreciate the warning. We were not affected though. Food arrived in good time.

Lovely food. Service was excellent.
Plenty of parking.
There is a little play area out the back for kids which is great. Could use a little bit of TLC, but was perfectly functional.

Marvellous village pub - especially handy after walks around the Hampshire Hangers!

Spent an excellent afternoon here (lunch and dinner). Enjoyed the garden, the covered outdoor area and one of the two bars. Also enjoyed that there was a separate garden for kids as we had a rare child free weekend! Service was great, blonde bar lady (manager?) and the rest of the lunch crew were particularly excellent. Agree with another poster: They do need to call out the group of smokers who use the non smoking covered area. Otherwise a great afternoon - cheers!

I had the duck salad, and although the quality was good the quantity was very small.
Ok duck is expensive, but the amount of salad was poor.
And no--one asked if everything was Ok.

Nice location to stop for a drink.
Unfortunately, the staff were unwelcoming bordering on indifferent; the food was okay but overpriced. Smoking and vaping in non-smoking covered outdoor area was disappointing to see and unpleasant whilst eating - and frustratingly unchallenged/permitted by the staff.

We stopped here for a drink after having spent time at the nearby Gilbert White House and Garden. The pub is both charming and a bit dated, and there is good space to sit outside.
