I came to Portsmouth to take my granddaughter and her new boyfriend to lunch on Wednesday 30th April, I ordered Fish and Chips when it arrived the baked beans were barely warm, the chips were not much better and the fish was only hot in the middle, I know there were 4 meals to prepare but surely mine could of been kept a lot hotter than it was not sure about the other meals but they did not look hot as no steam was seen to be coming from the plates. Nobody came to ask if the meal was okay, this is the reason for my rating and the fact I will not be eating there again.

Good, cheap beers and such, as well as speedy service. However, there's probably too much seating inside and it's seemingly always a bit rammed - loud and stressful.

Wetherspoons located not far from Portsmouth station. Beer was good.Never had a meal. Big pub in a really nice building.Avoid on a Saturday night though as it is so noisy and full of students.

Absolutely surprised that you can still get a pint of lager in a pub for £1.99 in 2026, so un-surprisingly this place was absolutely packed on a Thursday evening, I went in for a quick drink before I went to the theatre just along the road. Times service was a little bit slow with staff going off to do other jobs like replenishing the glasses. but overall, I did see tables being cleared. The toilets were clean, even if you have to climb a mountain to get there. I didn?t eat, but you did see food coming out being served and tables cleaned with some level of routine, not bad considering how busy the place was at one point I couldn?t see a vacant table.

Great pub. Great atmosphere, friendly and the food was freshly cooked and good. Staff worked hard to serve everyone quickly and easy to see why it's so popular.

The staff was very rude to us. Even though the age was verified at the entrance once we sat on the table and after ordering the food we were asked to leave saying that the BRP card is expired. This was not fair as they have checked it at the entrance once. The behaviour was very rude. The food tasted good as always as in a wetherspoon.
