Staff are absolutely rude, Refused me service for complimenting a female staff member then was refused alcoholic beverage on my second drink in which I demanded a reason only for a male staff member to apologise with arrogance. I then went back 5 days later for them to refuse me service but weren't able to give me a reason. Nasty children work there.

Food and presentation were fabulous and really enjoyed the service. You need to register your car for the Hotel car park and it?s ridiculously inconvenient. That?s the only reason it?s not a five star. I had to see reception three times to register my car :(

Apparently they have chef's here, more like cooks. Four separate times, I asked for my bacon in the morning, to be freshly cooked, so it's juicy and crispy, and every time it was reheated bacon, that was already cooked, and it was harder than pork crackling! Absolutely disgusting! A professional chef would be disgusted with that, because they wouldn't lower themselves to such a standard, and they obviously don't listen let alone care about the customer.

We were let down at the restaurant we had booked, so came here, they seated us took our drinks order, a bottle of excellent red wine, a beer for me and gin and tonic for my other half. Good menu, we both went for the sirloin steak, mine blue and the other medium rare. Excellent CV choice of sauces if you want, we both had the calamari to start. All beautifully cooked. Excellent and friendly staff. Good choice we said

I?m writing this review because I read some of the most recent reviews and I think that they bare no resemblance anymore to the quality described in the mediocre reviews. Instead, I found a fantastic steak with incredible peppercorn sauce. The pour on my Malbec was very generous. The steak was so good that I came back the next night and got it again. This time (in contrast to a previous review in August 2022), the chef came out as he thought he might have over cooked my medium rare request. He told me that if it wasn?t in my liking, you?ve been more than happy to take it back and make another one or give a discount whatever I prefer. I cut into it and it was perfect. The look on his face was one of genuine concern and care about his craft. I was very very impressed. After eating, at some of the other restaurants in the area, I would say, even if I wasn?t a guest at Marriot, I would take my significant other here for date night. I also would be reminisce if I did not mention how bountiful the spread is for the morning breakfast. It is reasonably discounted for Marriott guests, but for someone who eats quite a bit even if I did not get a discount, it would be worth it. The staff was incredibly friendly and very quick to clean and reset the tables.

The food was good. Service was OK. I couldn't catch anyone's eye for a while. The waiter got our food wrong but then replaced the dish. Maybe write down what we want next time?

Watch out for fluff and dirt falling from the ceiling the groveis in the ceiling are wide and not cleaned and can easily fall into your food or drinks

Table for 6 booked for Father?s Day in restaurant . What a disaster ! To start with the place was empty, and we were soon to find out why. We were only offered a choice of 2 tables at the bar area, with a lunchtime snack menu of sandwiches/burgers /fish and chips etc.. (Not a La carte that we had booked). The staff waited until we had purchased 2 bottles of wine £30 each , which were just plonked on the bar, unopened and no ice bucket, and beers before the eventually informed us that there were several things off the menu. First being fry?s but the did have dauphinois potato?s. Who EVER heard of burger and dauphinois. With a Lidl opposite and a McDonalds next door I asked why the chef couldnt go and buy some. He clearly had nothing else to do. But that idea was rejected. So, I got on the phone and prezzo in port Solent kindly squeezed us in Which was extremely good of them. We were informed by Marriott that the a la carte restaurant is open from 6pm, so why take our booking ?? There?s clearly a very serious management problem here which needs addressing. If they continue like this they will end up closing down and do everyone a favour.

We booked 6 of us in for dinner the night before the Great South Run. We booked for ease as we were staying at the Marriott and thought nice dinner, early sitting and early night. Started well friendly staff nice surroundings but then went downhill. We got some bread and butter eventually after a wait to keep the kids going. Thank goodness we did 50min wait for mains! No complicated dietary requirements and easy menu to produce especially when it wasn?t even busy. Food was Ok steaks not cooked to requests and one was so grisly. Disappointing when we were all hungry and wanted a swift dinner. Ordered kids desserts 20 mins for ice cream and a brownie! Staff when we raised our issues then suddenly turned from friendly to cold. Items off the bill were offered but still turned into an expensive late night and tired kids!

I feel so strongly that something needs to be done that I?m writing a review in the hope the restaurant addresses it. I booked my family into the Portsmouth Marriott as we were travelling for my grandmother?s funeral. I chose this hotel as a long standing customer of the Marriott group. We had a long 3.5hr drive and arrived at the restaurant on the off chance we could get something to eat. We were waiting at the entrance to the restaurant and had not uttered a word when one of the waitresses shouted at my father that they were closed. We only wanted to know if we could get something to eat there was absolutely no reason to treat my father in that way. We were completely shocked and I have to say it questions my belief in Marriott as a quality brand. It?s a shame the other members of staff were very helpful and polite. I really hope something is done about that individual and I will be having a discussion with the management to that effect when we check out.
