Another great night. The dishes are fantastic with chefs creations so good. Service by all the the waiting staff is great and always do the best Irish coffee to finish. 10/10 can't wait to return again.

First time eating here, as it was highly recommended by a work mate. Very glad I took his advice. Upon arrival I was met Jam by who was very attentive and more than happy to give his expert advice on what dishes to choose, even ones that weren't on the menu. I choose off the menu option and the food was delicious. Nothing seems too much problem for this man. More than happy than I came here and if you're in the Portchester area visit this place you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful friendly service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Staff are attentive and very accommodating. Highly recommend. Parking is available behind the restaurant.

Really delicious food and lovely friendly service. I'd definitely return. My whole party can recommend the lamb cutlets.
4 stars and not 5 because I paid a lot more than I would have normally for an Indian meal out. e.g. garlic naan is a whopping £5.

Visiting the area for work and after some research decided to try River Spice. Arrived around 18:00 on a Monday night. Seated quickly at the front of the room as there was only one table towards the back occupied. The service staff were very friendly and took our order quickly, as we knew what we liked/wanted, so super easy. We ordered a glass of wine and a pint of Tiger, the Chicken Tikka Masala & the Butter Chicken, pilau rice and a garlic naan, which was delivered to our table (again) quickly. We were hoping for a meal full of flavour & spices, but sadly were disappointed. The Chicken Tikka Masala was quite bland, the Butter Chicken tasted mostly of coconut. No real spices to either. The naan bread was lovely & fresh tho. It was an OK meal, nice to eat once. The service afterwards went a bit downhill as the staff were in conversations with the other table, at the back of the room. We would have enjoyed another drink while finishing our meal, but could not get their attention, so when we finally did get their attention we just asked for the bill. The staff were extremely friendly and service was fast, but that really isn?t enough to convince us to go back with plenty of other Indian restaurants around to choose from.

Great service when we asked about catering for a gluten free (GF) take away. They were helpful in suggesting options/restrictions and there were very few dishes we couldn't have.

Best curry iv ever had, service is amazing, very friendly staff and the food is something else. Very fresh and lots of flavour. We ordered a chicken vindaloo with coconut rice and a chicken tikka pathia with garlic naan

We have been using this restaurant and take away for over 18 months now, and Jam and Sammy couldn't do enough for us. If i ask what the specials are, i always end up choosing one of them and without fail and they never let me down, amazing food perfectly spiced, They truly understand what their customers want and like. This is from a family who have tried Indian restaurants and take aways across Portsmouth and Havant. Highly recommended.

Nice bright restaurant & very attentive staff, had a Naga curry but was a little disappointed in the heat strength being a little mild for this type of curry as I requested tindaloo strength, the Sag Aloo was made with microwaved new potatoes which is a big no-no in my book as they were horrible and tasteless but apart from also being a little pricey for the quality of the food, was an OK experience.

Just moved to Portchester from Fareham. Decided to order a curry from here as had such good reviews. Food was delivered quickly and looked good, unfortunately we found it really bland. We don't get takeaways often so was really disappointed. We won't eat here again and instead, will stick to empire kitchen which is absolutely delicious.

The owners of this restaurant should clearly mention the dine in timings and take away timings. This restaurant closes for dine in 2 hours prior to the actual restaurant closing time. Yesterday (Friday) we saw that the restaurant is opened until 11 PM and we reached between 9:15 to 9:30 PM. But they didn?t allow us to dine in inspite of requesting them to have food. We were really hungry and felt really bad to take away and eat on the benches of high street. Also they neither gave the disposable spoons to have the food outside for which I had to run to nearby Tesco and get some spoons to eat food. If anyone reading my review planning to visit this restaurant for dine in then do not visit post 9 PM. I don?t have any complaints on the food quality. They gave a complimentary naan bread probably to pacify us. Will never visit this place again.

We had a take away delivered by Sammy himself.
I had chicken shaslik and my husband had chicken biryani and a bhaji.
They were so delicious,the shaslik had at least 2 chicken breasts and was smokey and tasty
The biryani was moist and the sauce flavourful and tangy.
It was a huge triumph..well done to Sammy and all at River Spice

Visited River Spice last night with a couple of friends as part of our continuous tour of Indian restaurants in the local area, and we were really impressed. Excellent food, a very clean modern dining area, but most of all the service was probably the best we've received in quite some time. Very friendly, welcoming, and attentive.
The only thing I would say, which is more funny than a serious complaint, was our plates and such were cleared up very quickly, before I'd finished my naan, and I was just left holding it. We perhaps needed 5 minutes more for a truly relaxed experience, but like I say, not a huge issue. Fully recommended.

Tad quiet but it was a Sunday. Food was excellent and service really attentive... Not obvious what was on offer for vegetarians but the waiter tailored a popular dish on the menu to suit.
