A wonderfully welcoming spot right in the center of town with a warm fire, delicious beverages (both beers and the coffee is exquisite) and great food. The rooms as cozy and you really feel like the place has been there since the beginning of time. That said, the rooms feel fresh and clean and the beds are comfy. While currently not dog-friendly, we understand there's plans to bring some rooms online which would allow four-legged guests to be as welcome as the two-legged ones.Rooms: Cozy, freshly updated and clean.Nearby activities: Right in the center of town. Plenty of good walks to head out on and if you're there on a market day, it's only a minute away.Walkability: About 4 minutes from the train station and 1 minute from the center of town. Great base from which to head out on hikes in the area.Food & drinks: Great range of drinks and the food is delicious and the produce fresh.

We ordered a salad which on the menu contained chickpeas and feta. When it arrived it was a nice mix of salad and as I ate it I discovered there were no chickpeas or feta in the salad. In fact no protein of any sort. We queried it with the waitress when she eventually showed and she said query it with the manager on your way out. The manager although acknowledged that they had no chickpeas or feta refused to do anything about it as we had finished the meal in spite of not being advised that these ingredients were unavailable at the point of order. There was no apology and we had prepaid. Will not go back again.

We visited the pub about 4 o?clock, nice decor but unfortunately my friend has a nut allergy we asked at the bar if Some cakes had nuts in. Bing from a waitress point of view You should?ve realised that your customer had a nut allergy or even confirmed it with a customer, the cake we ended up buying had walnuts in it. The cake was labeled incorrectly and was labeled as a different cake.My friend started to flareup, we didn?t have to get an ambulance out due to having medication. We approached the manager and just seem to argue with us that my friend should?ve had a card on her, and putting it back on the customer which is unacceptable. We didn?t ask for a refund as some of the cake had been eaten but wanted to make the manager aware that this is dangerous. She was extremely defensive and argumentative and made it out like it was my friends fault, even though she had asked.

Although it is old, the staff is very helpful and the breakfast is delicious, although reservations must be made the day before. The room is about 8 tatami mats, and the bed is soft. There is a shaver outlet, but I couldn't use it, so a conversion adapter is required. Amenities include body soap, two bottles of water, and the hair dryer is in a drawer so it's hard to find. There are restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets nearby, and the station is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk.

Friendly service. Chic and comfortable accommodation. Perfect for Stroud and surrounding countryside. 5 mins walk from Petersfield station. I'm sorry I was only there for one night.
