Booked the Raven Hotel last minute and have to say I was not disappointed. Checking in was smooth and easy, rooms were very clean and Stephen and his team were great, offering great customer service. To finish off my stay the freshly cooked Full English breakfast was amazing?? thank you for a relaxing stay.

We are usually Premier Inn customers for last minute stays but The Raven was the closest to our family we wanted to visit. I must say this Greene King Hotel compares well to Premier. Facilities are similar. Cleanliness was perfect. The pub part is excellent. Breakfast was almost excellent apart from the tepid water to make your own tea. However, I think there was a staff shortage on our first morning so things like this happen, although I stuck to fruit juice for the remainder of my stay. In conclusion I would say that I will probably stay there again. I would have given five stars apart from one thing. As I said I think there was a staff shortage and the gentleman manning reception when we checked in appeared to be running the show on his own. However, he was friendly, polite and welcoming. Unlike the reception staff I encountered for the remainder of the stay. It costs nothing to smile, or say "good morning", or just "hello". Whether management or staff the ladies in the reception area could do with a few tips on manners and public relations. Shame. Nice hotel otherwise. Oh yea, one thing I would like to see in this and other similar hotels is a pair of chairs in a double or twin room. I don't understand why hotels think you only need one. In future we will be taking a foldup chair wherever we stay.

From the moment I called (night worker) at 5pm to say we are going to check in late. To the moment walking out everything was adversarial. Couldn?t do anything to help at any point. Got to collect key before 10pm Wasn?t aware of building works (not posted on website) so effects people in the hotel during the day. Green king pub not serving food until 5pm Went to leave to get an invoice. Nobody at reception told to wait because bar was busy. Couldn?t log in to the Pc when I wanted the receipt. Terrible hotel, don?t have a clue on how to run a business.

Booked to stay here for a Friday & Saturday night for our visit to #GFOS. From the outside it looks nice but a little neglected.this also continues on the inside, it was raining & there was a leak in the reception area. The reception area is in need of a makeover & didn?t smell too pleasant. We was checked in & given the keys to our room & told where it was located. The room was very basic but was clean & the shower had great pressure. We didn?t eat in on the 1st night but decided to on the 2nd night & wished we hadn?t. We had booked the table through the hotel reception & when we went down. The staff advised that they didn?t have a table booked for us but but not to worry they could fit us us as they were used to this situation. We was shown to a table & given time to order. We had to ask for the table to be wiped down. My partner ordered the stake & I the nachos. Well what a disappointment to both of us, the onion rings that came with the steak looked like they had been bought from Iceland !! My partner said the steak wasn?t great either . I am not sure what they used to make the nachos but not great at all. The service & food was not great, I would not recommend a stay/eating here.

My partner and I visited The Raven, Hook in July 2023 for a fleeting visit to a relative, and we were absolutely blown away by how enchanting this hotel is from the inside and out. The room (38) was spotless and the breakfast was TO DIE FOR! A top-tier establishment hidden in the nests of Hampshire, The Hook was the perfect stop for our trip.

We stayed for one night. The room smelled musty when we arrived but after opening the window for a while it was OK. It was fairly comfortable but perhaps a bit tired looking and in need of revamp. However, the redeeming feature was the staff who were all cheerful, helpful and polite.

Absolutely electric! Thought I?d pop down for a cheeky pint or two last weekend and was met with the friendliest staff on the planet. The pint was poured to perfection and left me just wanting more? The staff couldn?t have been better, quick and flawless service help my visit go off without a hitch. The one with glasses was especially helpful and poured the best pint of Guinness known to man. 10/10 would come again, can?t wait to be back !!

I stayed here last week for the first time. Large free car park. Friendly staff. The place is in need of a refurbishment though. Could be a great place but sadly the rooms are very tired and not very inviting. The pub down stairs is again quite uninspiring with average food.

Where do I even start with this miraculous place? Well, me and a friend travel regularly on the railways as part of a series he is doing, and every weekend typically consists of a hotel stay relevant to the area of stations we cover the Saturday. We tend to do Fri - Sun stays but I sometimes go home Saturday nights due to personal reasons, but anyway? This hotel was in an ideal location for what we were doing and we booked it from Friday 10th June - Sunday 12th June. This costed £112 pounds for him the adult and me the child, which in todays market is decent. We arrived at the hotel around 2230 on the Friday, expecting to check in, have food, go sleep. And we were able to do exactly that! There was no staff at the desk upon arrival, however this was due to either the time of day, or the fact the hotel and restaurant (both called The Raven) have shared staff. Either way, we rang the phone it said and asked to check in, and we were very politely greeted by a gent who asked how our evenings were, told us every we needed to know such as Wi-Fi, breakfast, pub closing times ext. We found no issues checking in and proceeded to our room up a flight of stairs and a corridor and were absolutely stunned. The carpet (not that it?s important) had a really cool warming sense, there was a nice wooden wardrobe with wooden bed side tables and a table with chair. These were nice touches to add to the depth and character of the room. Next up, the room itself. Once unpacked, we proceeded to order food from a pizza place a couple miles away, not that we didn?t want a pub dinner, just that it was 11 at night and some people had clearly had a few ??. Anyway, the beds. We had two single beds in the room. Which were both comfy as f**k. Your bodies sink into the mattress, let alone the pillows. Unlike premier inn, the duvets didn?t have a odd stiffness feel to them, making for a really good sleep, and allowed us to wake up fresh the next morning. Also to add, the bathroom was really nice with a shower/bath combo, sink, 2 mirrors, soiled and bar for towels, aswell as a little shelf for toiletries in the shower, which the shower particularly was confusing to use, but I got it to a decent temperature and pressure and it was brilliant! After returning the Saturday, same occasion as the Friday, got in, re-dressed, went sleep. Sunday we woke up and as we were heading to Salisbury for more transport related things, we thought we would check out the breakfast at the pub, however I will leave that on a review on there not here the hotel page. Overall, aswell as staff being the friendliest hotel staff I?ve ever encountered, I was super impressed with the location, cleanliness and everything about it. Would recommend this to anyone looking for an ideal location to stay, with also rail links to London, Basingstoke, Salisbury, Weymouth, Bournemouth and Southampton! Thanks for reading, hope you stay here and enjoy it, and if so, leave a review, I?m sure you will enjoy the experience.

We have stayed here several times and each time it just gets better. The manager is amazing. The bar and food is exceptional. Can?t fault it at all. This is a little gem in the countryside a must visit.

Very good service from all staff but Becca was excellent. She was attentive and very friendlt. Food was value for money and nice and hot. Only criticism was that the ladies was a bit smelly, like damp and thinkthat is becuse the building is old.

Had a very special deal with the hotel which was just too good to miss. Fairly basic hotel but everything was clean, staff were excellent, and the food was better than average. The bed was very comfortable indeed. Good shower too, The hotel has its own pub which was good with reasonably priced drinks and showed live sport. There are also a couple more pubs in the village. There was an issue on one of the nights (Saturday) of noise coming from a wedding disco just below my room, but the second night was very quiet. The Hotel is within a 3 minute walk from a railway station with a stopping service to London (takes around 75 minutes) and this is a real bonus. If you are not expecting a 5 star hotel, but wanting a good value place to stay then I can really recommend this place.
