More 3.5 than 3. Stopped on route to the ferry. Location very good, just 60 seconds off the dual carriageway, plenty of parking and pleasant place to sit and relax. Staff very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Lower rating is due to food. Both my wife and I had their salads (she had the chicken & I had the veggie option) and agreed they were very bland and overpriced. £14 for 2 small cubes of feta, some orzo, lettuce and tomatoes seemed a tad steep to me. Deserts were nicer though. So maybe somewhere for a pleasant drink but I wouldn't eat there again.

Fantastic location. Heading south for that trip away from Portsmouth early morning? Well, the Hog is your place to stay for dinner, 40 winks and breakfast. Fantastic bedrooms, and you can even bring the dog! Lovingly thought out. Will be back.

The recent refurb of the Hampshire Hog is a much needed refresh and it does look smart. Sadly our meal was hugely disappointing and overpriced. Although my son ordered a beef burger, he was mistakenly given the vegan option which arrived with a garnish of what appeared to be dry kale. Although the staff were kind enough to change this and refund us, this took 20 minutes. My wife's meal was advertised as coming with a 'tomato and cucumber salad' which translated to some undressed chunks of tomato and cucumber. The fish and chips I ordered from the main menu for £18.50 was only marginly bigger than the small fish and chips from the prix-fixe menu and arrived with a portion of dried up mushy peas (elegently described as 'crushed minted peas' on the menu).
Would I come back for a drink. possibly, but this wouldn't be somewhere I would recommend for food at the moment.

Loved every minute of my stay on Monday night...
The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in, the supervisor and her staff were great, and breakfast was top quality....
I will definitely be staying here again very soon ??

Very disappointing visit. Aesthetically the refurbished of the Hampshire Hog is pleasing but the food is poor and boring. Very limited menu which doesn?t cater for vegetarians. Little choice made worse with several items not available. Fullers you can and should do so much better especially as the prices are above average. If you want to charge above average then please make an effort to get the basics right Wetherspoons puts you to shame at a fraction of the cost..

This is such a great pub and hotel. We?ve had a couple of family events here recently and the staff go above and beyond to make sure you feel welcome and have everything you need. Food and service are great and lovely rooms as well.
