The atmosphere seemed very laid back but it was a quiet time of day. We stopped for lunch. The menu was not clean. I would not go there again.

Never disappoints. Good food and a quiet chilled out country pub with exceptional service. Would highly recommend

Food was terrible!! Ham (hair attached) eggs broken and overcooked, chips looked nice, mine, I chose chicken teriyaki stir fry off the specials board, this consisted of leftover veg from Sunday roast, veg soggy, including parsnip!!! I even tasted some gravy, Chicken tough, clearly microwaved, sauce on the top (drizzled from a bottle) rice, mushy and recooked (£17)!! Do not recommend sadly

We have just spent a really nice weekend there. Kerry and her staff are lovely, the food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

Stayed here with my son after a long bike ride with the aim of getting out of the city and some walking.
The pub has a nice atmosphere and looked like a great meeting place for the locals and very dog friendly.
We stayed in the double room. Didn't have an evening meal as we were too late. The room was well set up and clean. A couple of cobwebs high up, but that's being picky! The bath was missing a plug which the staff remedied very quickly.
Breakfast was very nice. A bit pricey, but you expect that when in this type of location. It was at 10am when chef came in, but we were given the option of having breakfast earlier and there was no pressure to check out. The lady who served us was so friendly and accommodating as well.
Enjoyable stay at reasonable price. Bed was also very comfy.
The back patio area of the pub itself is a little neglected, which is a shame as that could be a really lovely outside space with plenty of plants etc. I hope they get to do it at some point as it would be a great asset to an already lovely pub!
Would definitely recommend.
Thank-you

With friendly staff, excellent food, and a good selection of drinks, The Rising Sun is a great pub. We stayed here whilst walking the nearby South Downs Way and were made to feel very welcome indeed. Dinner was delicious and beyond our expectations. The straightforward accommodation, meanwhile, offered good value, and the breakfast was the best across our multi-day trip. Highly recommended.

Parked outside the pub asking for directions to the bluebell woods very helpful 15 minute walk to woods and then back to the pub for a pint of ale friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

Great local pub, excellent food and welcoming staff. 2 car parks. South facing aspect catching the sunshine in the garden.

I arranged a wake here for family and friends to follow a family funeral. As you?d expect, such functions have a short notice. The team at The Rising Sun bent over backwards to accommodate our party - great food at a very reasonable price. The service was simply outstanding: unobtrusive management and staff making sure that everyone was catered for; tea and coffee ready on arrival; meeting dietary needs; catering for additional guests; and, all with a ready smile whilst still allowing the group privacy. The overall atmosphere was positive and respectful and, importantly, the ?regulars? were still looked after.
A super positive experience at a difficult time - The Rising Sun by name and by nature.
