A good place for families, but was very busy and noisy inside, but that was probably due to the wet weather and the ample outdoor seating not being usable. Service was prompt even though it was packed.

Good service. Pepsi was very good and best Pipers crisps I've ever tasted!

Nice garden, good play equipment for kids, good selection of beers and a few TVs for sports. More staff than I've ever seen in a bar / restaurant but training is definitely needed. Stood at the bar for 10 minutes while staff stood talking and then finally what appeared to be the manager came in a served out of turn. Good, quick service is such an easy win in the service industry!

We dropped in for a meal on a Sunday evening. England ladies were playing the euros final and everyone was watching the big screen. Bar was very busy however we found a table in the garden and ordered eventually at the bar. The food was hot and delicious. Would recommend eating here

On the desperate hunt for a good meal this place outdid themselves. Best sausage and mash. Our dog was allowed in too. Parking is at the back of the restaurant so look out for this as parking is a nightmare around town.

Absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing. The play area for the kids kept them entertained for a good few hours.. the staff were lovely.. such a cosy place. If you're camping in Holland's wood with kids.. this is the place to come for a few drinks and a bite to eat.

We had a lovely experience at the Snakecatcher. The beer gardens at the front and back were both lovely and the children climbing frame was just a godsend. We had the children beef burger ? which came with all sides and the cooked on the table Corte de bouf. The beef was of premium quality packed full of flavour but the burger was a little overcooked. I would happily go back when we visit Brockenhurst again.

I popped in here today for lunch with my son. Ample parking and a large amount of outdoor seating.
Inside this lovely old building it was spacious and welcoming.
We made our way in and were greeted by the staff. We were told we could sit anywhere, so my son chose a table in the corner.
This is a pub... it's been there for a long time and the decor is as you would expect. My only criticism would be, it's in need of a jolly good dust and maybe a bit of a refresh for the walls. They have pictures and information about the Snake catcher, which was very interesting but my eyes were drawn to the layer of dust on the pictures, dado rail/small shelf and the items on the shelves above us.
The building is right next to a busy road and whilst it was lovely having the windows open, the traffic noise was pretty constant.
We only waited a few minutes before our drinks came out and only around 20 minutes for our food from time of ordering. We got there at opening time for 1200 so it wasn't very busy.
The food was delicious, decent portions, not over priced for the portion you get and for the two of us we spent around £70 on lunch including non-alcoholic drinks.
My son had the wild boar burger, which comes with chips and salad (he gave it a 10/10!) I had the surf and turf with prawns (you can choose prawns or scallops) and chips (I really enjoyed mine, 10/10). You are brought your steak on a hot brick to cook yourself at the table! It was a really nice touch, not done that since the 90s, I forget the restaurant chain that used to do that. They also provide bbq, sweet chilli and another sauce which i couldn't place, but was nice! On the side.
We also ordered a side of dirty fries (my son gave them 10/10) and a large plate of nachos. They were also lovely, topped with sour cream, guacamole and a salsa, with jalapeños.
We had no room for dessert but there is a modest selection and we'd probably have chosen the cheesecake of the week and the ice cream.
I would recommend the Snakecatcher, it was enjoyable, the service was excellent and the food was really delicious.
We travelled 2 hours to check this place out and I'm glad we did.
They do have a play area for the kids, which is fenced off, and plenty of parasols for the outside eating area.
