I have some fantastic memories of taking the Year 6 children here on their yearly residential. The facilities are great however, it's the staff that truly makes it. It really is a magical place.

I visited here on my Silver Dofe expedition. I really enjoyed the stay here especially as there was a great volleyball court and the scout activity centre had high quality showers. However we stayed in location 21 and the surface we slept on was not the most comfortable I have seen yet. Also the long path outside which leads into the Campsite has a very nice view and is a great walk.

Lovely location unfortunately the staff weren?t very helpful and our stay wasn?t very nice no heating or electricity in our lodge. When brought to the staff they took 3 days to get back to us just to tell us it?s our problem it was -2 most nights. Beautiful to visit wouldn?t recommend staying or paying £400 for a lodge with no heating or electricity

Great fun with a school group. Had a rotation of 4 activities including backwoods cooking, Jacob's ladder, archery and team building. The leaders were high on safety but having a good time. Everything ran to schedule. FAB!

I much prefer the Croft building due to the layout but looking closer it?s getting tired. The beds haven?t been changed in seventeen years and are showing signs of wear, risk of finger traps for young children and even the slightest movement caused horrendous creaking.

Good place to do leadership training, though if sleeping in the bunks be careful, I'm over 6' and I was too tall

Cracking medium sized camp site with plenty of decent activities and always a well stocked wood pile (with palettes). Recommend

This is a great place for a Scout, Guide, or similar holiday. We spent a week on site, and participated in a dozen or so on-site activities, the majority of which were excellent. The site team were friendly, supportive, and great with the kids. There are a mix of instructor led and self led activities, and those with instructors are definitely the better activities, though most self led activities are good fun too.Based on the current setup, orienteering is one to avoid, as the compasses seem of poor quality, and the 'pace' size is about 2m, making it impossible to complete the course.... but out of the 16 activities we completed, this was the only one we didn't enjoy.I would fully recommend the site to others. One point of note - there are a lot of squirrels on site, which will eat anything and everything they can get to, so almost all food needs to be stored in sealed wooden or metal boxes (they even gnawed through a supermarket crate!)

Just returned from a week with 13 Scouts, superb site, the toilets and showers were always clean(except when our Scouts had been kayaking!) the instructors were brilliant, and the self led activities had everything provided so we could easily set up and run a session, various entertainment put on by staff, movie night, beach volleyball and the camp fire was loved by the kids.
Highly recommend the pizza oven!
My only suggestion, and this isn?t a criticism of the site, is ensure you have rock pegs as a minimum with you, although I still bent two or three and had to take the pegs out with a claw hammer when we struck camp as the ground was so dry.
