It's great for all things outdoor... two large buildings opposite each other (one housing tents the other almost everything else). Friendly staff, plenty of parking, great range of products -many with significant discounts off RRP (how genuine these RRP values are is another story). Bottom line... if you're looking for something related to the great outdoors you'll most likely find it here and at a good price.

A reasonably friendly branch of Go-Outdoors. With a lot of outdoor clothing, shoes Rucksacks, fishing gear, camping equipment & a separate large tent emporium (not always open). Parking is fairly easy & the staff quite friendly once you find them. It's been a survivor store, since some others in this area have closed. By far the biggest store in the chain is in Sheffield, which is a far more jolly & social environment, it also has the biggest staff. The York store was also friendly but not so large.

This is not Basingstoke specific, just Go Outdoors specific. Go Outdoors are selling patched up items as new and this has happened 3 times, including a £1000 tent, so check your items. They have refused to answer why and wont replace the product. A loyal customer that will NEVER be buying from them again. Disgraceful.

Went to Basingstoke (15 miles) store to buy 2 new jackets and sleeping bag, unfortunately one of the jackets was not in stock although the web site said it was so went back home and orderd it on line and also saved 15% on the jackets, that's why the stores are closing.

Popped in to buy trainers. Helpful assistant. Was left alone to choose my purchase. No sales pressure. Large free car park. Members card gives discount.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I travelled 25 something miles to pick up a bike I reserved days before that turned out not being up to standards. The young guy who initially served me was great, nice and charismatic, but the bike wasn't checked over like they are legally required to before sale.He called the manager over, who initially tried to rudely discard the situation over the radio. When she eventually turned up, she tried to deny the sale because it was a cyclescheme purchase, claiming the "certificate could be fake" and said I should have reserved. When I told her I had all the right documents for the purchase, and that I did in fact reserve, she said the only way I could take it home was to sign a waiver declaring the bike not being safe at point of sale, voiding the warranty, whilst offering no discount or further solution.Safe to say I walked out, disappointed being an understatement. Wouldn't recommend the store for a flashlight, let alone any expensive purchase.

Wow! I needed to get the last few bits for my hiking kit list and popped here as it had been recommended by a friend.Firstly.... dogs are welcome! I'm taking my dog, Reg, with me next time. ?The store is split across two units, opposite each other. Head to the one nearest the entrance to the car park first. The other unit will contain all the tent stuff if you want to make a beeline there. The way Go Outdoors works is that you buy a years membership for £5 (you get a little membership card, with a number, so you use it to make online purchases too). For that, you get the discounts for the items.I spent £114.00 in total, but had £94 of savings.... so pretty much halved the cost of the items I would have bought elsewhere.
