Staff who know nothing about the products and have a poor attitude; behave as though customers are an inconvenience.

Staff were helpful, but what is the point of advertising items that are not in the shop? even more shocking, cannot be even ordered from the shop and delivery to the home! Went to Amazon and delivered in two days. I really try to not use the internet as I prefer the interaction with a human, no wonder shops are closing. The one star is for the company. Staff would get 4 stars, as he double checked and tried to help.

Needed to replace all of our white goods after a fire, chap spent a couple of hours helping us to get everything without any dramas.

Hadn't advertised item correctly so needed a refund. I then lost the gift card (not their fault) but was told to come to the store and they'll put the balance remaining on another card. Drove in and the man was a little rude saying 'well we dont keep a copy of the card numbers. You've been misinformed. Should have checked'. I had. Now already annoyed at myself for losing a gift card, but also frustrated at the waste of fuel.

Formal Complaint Regarding Faulty Product and Unfair Treatment at Currys Basingstoke
To: Trading Standards
Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Faulty Product and Unfair Treatment at Currys Basingstoke
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding an unacceptable experience I had at Currys Basingstoke on 19th of June 2025, involving the sale of a faulty product and subsequent refusal of refund or exchange.
I visited the store to purchase a fan or air conditioning unit and was advised by a member of staff that the Dyson Purifier Gen1, priced at £300, was the best option available. Based on this recommendation, I purchased the item and took it home.
Upon use, it became immediately clear that the product was not functioning correctly ? it barely emitted any airflow and did not perform as expected. I promptly returned to the store to request either an exchange or a refund.
To my dismay, the store manager rudely refused both options. He also instructed the customer service team to withhold assistance. While still in store, I contacted Dyson customer support and participated in a video call with one of their team members. After inspecting the unit, they confirmed that the product appeared to be faulty.
Despite this confirmation from Dyson themselves, the store staff continued to refuse an exchange or refund.
To make matters worse, during this time, another customer entered the store with a faulty item, which was checked and exchanged immediately ? no hesitation, no refusal. This inconsistent treatment raises serious concerns about fairness and possible discrimination. I have the names and contact details of the other customer involved, should further verification be required.
Given that I was sold a faulty product and was denied a resolution that I am legally entitled to under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, I am requesting Trading Standards to investigate this matter. A £300 product that does not work and cannot be returned is completely unacceptable, and Currys Basingstoke's conduct in this matter is both unreasonable and unethical.
I have also submitted a complaint directly to Currys and will provide any additional evidence needed, including proof of purchase, Dyson's confirmation, and witness details.
Thank you for your attention to this serious issue.
Yours faithfully,
Tamas Szabo

Empty store yet I still waited 25 minutes for someone to serve me at the repair/support till. Ended up walking out and going elsewhere. Also the charm school didn?t see any of these rude headset wearing staff.

A special trip 20 miles to be told ipads were down and to look online for the information i needed, a complete waste of time! Woman got a measuring tape out to measure a fridge i wanted to buy, (despite the fact the sizes were on display), she converted to inches in her head then told me it would fit in the gap i had. Great, but I already knew that and that wasn't the question I asked. Wanted to try and support an actual store, wished I hadn't bothered, came home more frustrated!

Waste of time, nothing was in stock and they tried pushing an additional £30 for next day delivery. I?ll just stick to Amazon.

Do not bother with trying to price match. Wriggle out of there own terms and conditions at every turn. No calls back, appalling customer service and not even the best price. No wonder the high street is failing with cowboys like this around. This not a store issue but with their head office.
