We stayed here in the Commer room for 2 nights and highly recommend it, the bed is so comfortable and room has a beautiful cosy feel about it. I will definitely book here again.

Had a half of AF Heineken on tap which was good to see. Barman was cheerful and although I didn't eat, I wish I'd not scranned a packed lunch earlier because the Sunday dinner I saw being trotted out by the waiter looked fantastic.

Have been staying in a local motel; this is easy to find.
This pub is less than 10 mins walking distance. A good set of beers on tap and a great menu to pick from.
I didn?t stay the night, so only rated 3 stars. No reflection. Would like to stay in the future.
The place has a good car park and a beer garden with ample dining inside.

Very quiet Monday afternoon.
I'm not one for reviews and it takes a truly bad or good experience to do this, especially coming from a hospitality background but I was immensely disappointed with today's visit 14/4 after a re visit a couple of months ago.
I arrived and ordered immediately as I just wanted a burger and a coke, the coke I ordered came flat (no gas) i then later found out it wasn't coke and was zero sugar coke as that was all they had, which again, when I ordered wasn't explained and no alternative was given. I feel like I was a burden to the waitress for asking for this to be sorted as there was a sigh and a huff. Inside seemed very dull, there was no ambience, no heating, no background music..(it was very cold, I thought moving tables would help, it didn't). There were things hanging off walls down by the skirting boards in the seating room to the side, paint coming off the walls covered only by paintings, it just seems like general upkeep and maintenance had been neglected. It wasn't a pleasant environment. Chef apparently wasn't in the kitchen the majority of the time, FOH had to run around to try and find him which massively slowed service down. When the burger arrived, it was very different to what I had a couple of months ago with no definite menu change. The burger was a double patty (possibly 2oz maybe 3oz), dry and very overcooked and garnished with some brown lettuce again, no sauce, no flavour. Chips were soggy as if they had been sat under the pass lights for a while, coleslaw mainly consisted of fennel which was immensely strong, I also add, a nice touch with the fennel but was massively overpowering. As I was done with food, my 'fixed' coke zero arrived but by then I was done anyway.
All in all, £21 for this i was not impressed. The waitress offered to take the drink off but I told her to leave it as to be honest, I just wanted to leave. I left 3/4 of my meal and 3/4 of a pint of rectified coke zero.

Went for lunch last Monday. The pub wasn't busy but we waited an hour and a half for our food. There wasn't much of an apology except we were told only one chef in the kitchen.
Nice pub, but I wouldn't go again after such poor service.

I'd heard it had changed hands a year ago, and went based on new recommendation.
So, we'd gone in there just after Christmas with family and it looked welcoming enough with decor made up, but needed to keep our coats on for a while until the bar area warmed up as the fire went out, with an empty log shack. Quickly became a full house, however, staff were attentive, and only 20 mins wait for food.
I had a nut roast, with all the trimmings, and we were all happy with our meals, all very nicely cooked. Tip- if you go for a sunday roast or around bank holls, book well in advance.
New Update - The manager has recently left to reventure into another local pub, taking his chef with him, so it is probably under interim management.

Great Pub.
Tall gentleman running this afternoon was great and his service excellent.
Meal was great and compliments to the chef.
Sounds like a bit of adversary going on about the existence of this pub.
Would not like to see such a local asset go.
Hopefully you'll be around for many years yet.
Sutton Scotney need to retain this local asset...
