This lovely inn offers great facilities, good food, and, above all, really friendly staff, who do what they can to make your stay memorable.
The dining menu is limited, but there is enough there to give most people something they fancy, and the food is well prepared and tasty.
Breakfast options are also good, and the 3 of us in our group, all with different tastes, had a good start to each morning.
The rooms are good, nicely fitted out and clean; I would have given 5 stars but for the fact that the rooms are not automatically cleaned if you stay more than 1 night, you have to ask. It is a personal irk of mine, as it seems more and more places are doing this; I totally understand the reasons why, and one of my group said he preferred it if non-one tidies up, but for me, a hotel is a hotel, and one of the joys is coming back in the evening to find it all made up.
Cannot find any other fault, and I would recommend this to anyone, espcially if, like us, you are attending a meeting at the nearby Thruxton circuit.

Very disappointing. Location and facilities looked very nice but Sunday lunch was a real let-down.
We arrived on time for our 12 noon booking and our orders were taken fairly quickly. I did hear a neighbouring table not able to have a particular starter or a drink because the ingredients weren?t available. No apparent issue with mine until the server came back to say it wasn?t available. Obviously not great communication from the kitchen. I made another choice and asked for not gravy.
Meal came - with gravy - and asked whether I would like a Yorkshire pudding if I was vegetarian rather than vegan. A nice thought and recognised the differences but a little late with my meal in front of me.
I could have got past that if the food had been nice but it was honestly the worst mean I?d had in ages. I?m not sure how you ruin roast potatoes so thoroughly. The leek/cabbage wasn?t cooked at all - I like al dente but this was raw. Pastry of the squash wellington was nice but in pieces. The filling tasteless and minimal. We didn?t stay for coffee or dessert.

The food was just ok, I had the fish and chips. I was looking forward to this, but when it arrived I was very disappointed. The fish batter dark brown and the size of the fillet was tiny. I think I've had more fish in a fish finger. The minted peas weren't great either. They were a combo of minted blended peas with a few garden peas thrown in afterwards. My partner had the special, the Vegan burger. This was ok but the bun was toasted which just made it dry.. it was ok. Not a great experience but just ok.

Met a friend for lunch today and had a lovely experience at the Bourne Valley Inn. The pub was lovely and had a very nice vibe to it. The young gentleman Harvey was absolutely wonderful and made our experience here very good. Not only did he wait on our table he also cooked our food for us and we couldn?t have asked for anything more from him. Overall a really good experience and will be recommending highly to others

Sunday lunch - roast beef - tough as old boots and so called roast potatoes solid - uncooked. Small portion of greens also barely cooked. No horseradish brought with meal, as of course it always should be with roast beef, and then produced on request, after waiting, in silly little stainless steel pots. Half way through the meal some awful guitarist with a mike starts up, killing conversation and making a dreadful din. Free pudding provided following complaint - Eton Mess - except it wasn?t Eton Mess, which is smashed meringue and cream with fresh half strawberries, it was just a mess- a bowl of cream with about two shards of meringue and a squirt of strawberry syrup - no fruit. Altogether pretty disappointing in what could be a reasonable venue.

We visited BVI on Thursday evening for a meal, the staff were very friendly and helpful, served you with a smile which is always nice. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful, finished off with a lovely cheeseboard. We?ll definitely be back.

Great venue and friendly staff. Battered fish was a bit dry/disappointing, but no complaints otherwise.

We had really high hopes due to the good reviews and beautiful setting when we turned up. Unfortunately, the bbq they were doing on Sunday was a bit of a disaster. The chicken was very underdone and had to be sent back, and the new one was only just cooked with some pink bits still. The summer salad was covered in dirt so we had to get a fresh one and was also lacking the croutons on the menu - despite arriving at 12 they'd apparently run out - so was basically a bowl of leaves and radishes for £5. The hotdog (£10.50) was a tiny sausage half the size of the bun and we had to ask for the crispy onions which didn't originally arrive. No apologies for any of these issues. Also, the burger sauce didnt come on the burger, the slaw didnt have any dressing.... it was all just underwhelming. We were really disappointed and sadly unlikely to go again.

Only one veggie option that they had ran out of. Created a veggie burger which was burnt. Slow service. Shame as previously had been much better

Lovely supper.
The food was delicious, we all enjoyed our meals.
The service was good, lovely lad behind the bar was super friendly, chatty and welcoming.
Would highly recommend a visit here ?
(Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay but I'm sure they're great)

We called here on way back from a canel boat trip. We were greeted by the manager I think who was really nice & helpful. Unfortunately it's her staff who let her down. Next to us a bowl of cauliflower cheese had been dropped on the carpet. Two members of staff tried to pick it up & rub it off the carpet. Once they had got most of it they left it. There were bits all on carpet looking like vomit. Not one of them came back to clean it with a cloth & carpet cleaning spray. Really not a great look. I enjoyed my beetroot Wellington but my husband said his meat roast was bland. Very disappointed with the food. Never stayed for a pudding or 2nd drink.
Also the carpet on entering has seen better days. Butcombe need to put some money into this lovely old building. Wallpaper falling off around the window wall. Carpets stained and worn.
We are Butcombe loyalty members but we will not be calling in to this one again.

I very much enjoyed my stay, the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The food was lovely and the portions generous. I would highly recommend the Inn to anyone passing through Andover.
