Title: Absolutely ridiculous - banks don't even deal with cash anymore?
I went into the Lloyds TSB branch in Alton today with £100 cash, hoping to get it changed into smaller denominations for a car boot sale I'm running on Sunday. I was told by the staff that they couldn't do the transaction and that I should go to a Post Office instead.
I'm sorry, but this is a bank, not a museum! Since when did banks stop taking and exchanging cash? It's completely absurd. The whole point of a bank is to handle money, and apparently, they can't even manage a simple request like this.
This is a sign of a ridiculous trend. It seems we are being pushed further and further into a cashless society, and even the places that are supposed to be the pillar of financial services are giving up on cash. It's an absolute joke. The old days when you could walk into any bank and get change are well and truly gone.
I would strongly advise anyone who values the ability to use physical currency to avoid banking with this company. If they won't even handle a simple cash transaction, what's the point?

Some staff seem to think their role is to tell the customers to use the ATMs and not to serve the customers.

Close your account and go elsewhere, nobody ever answers the phone, even when you go in you have to wait days to be seen. I will be closing my account I've heard for about 15 years ASAP

I have been a customer for many years and miss the ladies, especially Karen, but have found that Hameda ( not sure I have spelt this correctly) and Brian are just as friendly and helpful as the ladies previously.Hope that this branch never closes.

I have been with the Tsb for a few years, before the Coronavirus, it was a lovely friendly bank, and would help you in anyway they could, but now its not the same have gone done in my estimations, not so helpful as used to be
