Fantastic curry served here. Shame it's not local to me.

Great night out at our beloved Shapla. Food excellent as always, and beautifully looked after by our young servers, smiley and attentive. Why does a restaurant last over 25 years? This is why.

2 star hygiene rating, up from a 1 star a year ago. Not good enough to do so little about this. Would love to go back there as the service and food were always good but as soon as we discovered this, we?ve avoided.

This was a place I?d never been to before and it was an excellent meal. All the food was piping hot and the 7 friends were served at the same time. The staff were extremely good when taking the orders, but also checked the order again to ensure sure no mistakes. Very impressive.

The food and service was absolutely amazing, the best Indian I have ever eaten in England! The service was very quick, attentive and personable, a great family business which they were obviously very proud of!

Very annoying, it was a treat takeaway. For a birthday. Alresford, meant to be full of amazing places for food. Hmmm? it was Awful! I mean seriously!! Really rubbery squid in a very thin strangely coloured sauce that had no flavour. A lamb dish that tasted exactly like Korma from a jar, with just 5 pieces of lamb? two types of naan that really hadn?t seen a tandoor? the rice was fine ? just. To make it worse 1 of us had the most awful fish and chips ( didn?t like Indian food) also in Alresford. I?m wondering if food places think because they are in a ?smart? village they can get away with anything.

The best indian restaurant in Hampshire. We travel to Alresford every Friday, from Winchester, to collect our takeaway. Friday night is curry night! The Shapla is far superior to anything that Winchester has to offer. Chicken is always tender, unlike most popular Winchester restaurants.

"I had an incredible dining experience at [Restaurant Name]! The Sag Paneer dish was a delightful treat that left my taste buds wanting more. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the paneer was so creamy and delicious. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. I can't wait to visit again and try more of their delicious offerings. Highly recommended!"

The food is always excellent and again didn't disappoint. The very notable thing this time was the service. 1. yes ask on arrival if we want drinks, but not continuously through out the evening keep asking interrupting our conversations so many times..as your customers will always grab your attention if more drinks are required, then also asking if the glasses were finished with so they could hurry us along to close. 2. serving across the table .. staff may need a little more training. 3. a dirty plate .. and no apology. Well done to the the chef again, but front of house needs improving

An absence of piped music allows diners to fully appreciate the subtle sounds of other diners as they crunch their way through popadoms and make small talk with their mouths full. Delightful! And then the food. I opted for the mixed rice. Stir fried rice with egg, mushrooms and peas. My dentist will appreciate that the chef (?) forgot to cook the petit pois and instead simply warmed them so they remained as hard as bullets. The lamb menthe included a slice of under ripe tomato, and while my palate is not world class, even I couldn't detect the mint. Then I moved on to desert. I opted for the blueberry classic. Much smaller than the photo in the menu implied. Which was perhaps a blessing as it was stale. Were the blueberries in the middle supposed to be dried? And the sponge as old and tired as a knackered nag? Perhaps that's how its supposed to be, but for £6.95 I expected better.
