A lovely place to visit at any time of the year, but it will be at its best in spring and summer. There is a very interesting church on the grounds and is worth taking time to look around! Some of the structures in the garden were under repair and due to the wet weather some of the garden was cordoned off, but we had a wonderful day out! We will go back!!

The house and gardens are nice, the estate is huge so there is lots of space for walks. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the house and the estate. The reason for 3 starts is that we were disappointed by the very poor toilet facilities compared to (most) other National Trust properties.

Had to show card again for the house. Asked why,and answer was, if I had a pound each time someone asked me this... Well make it more obvious then. (You don't have to pay to get in as it's a public footpath going through the grounds.) Only then to be told I have to take off my backpack. So I walked out and didn't bother to look around the house. Was told by someone that I didn't miss much. So just be ready to be disappointed ?.

A little busy at the weekend, garden well kept and interesting. The house contains many interesting paintings and the rooms have many items decorated using minerals and Semi precious stones. In good weather there are a number of walks around the site , the blue bells can be outstanding at the right time (early May) . Restaurant was friendly.

January visit ? did the middle NT walk circa 5 miles. Inevitably muddy after ??????. Signs of Spring. NB Coffee and sausage rolls BUT pasties ONLY at weekend or Half Terms ????Four out of five stars ?? simply because today just a gardens and walks visit and not the house. Hinton Ampner is one of our two local NT properties and gardens. We visit in ?all Seasons?. Wonderful walks to choose from the property, lovely gardens and a splendid cafe with very friendly accommodating staff?. e.g fresh water for the ? ? oh and dog ? friendly. We?ll be back?. Soon ????

Took the granddaughters to see the Peter Pan event. Had to book a slot but even so the car park was pretty full. The girls had a great time in the house following the route through the Peter Pan experience. The crocodile was fun and seeing Peter's shadow fly across the bedroom wall. Ate in the cafe and walked around the grounds. A good Christmas experience.

Visited the Christmas displays today - as NT members it was ok however we did attend with non-NT members and it felt very expensive for £15 a person! The cafe was great with plenty on offer I?d recommend the Fruit Scone with a luxery hot chocolate

We had a free pass for entry and we picked a lovely day to visit. The staff and volunteers were very friendly. Parking was very busy but we found a spot! The grounds and gardens are very well kept and beautiful to walk around. The kids liked trying to spot the fish in the pond. The cafe is pretty small but lots of extra outdoor seating is offered. LOTS of benches throughout the ground. There are toilets by the cafe. And a small gift shop on site selling gifts, plants and produce. We wandered the grounds, looked through the lower floor of the house and went into the small church.Though its not the largest National Trust we?ve been to; It?s still easy to spend a couple of hours here - longer even if eating/picnicing and if the weather is nice.

First visit to Hinton Ampner the National Trust property was lucky enough to be able to visit two of the bedrooms on the first floor that are undergoing restoration the guide provided detailed explanation of what works are to be carried out, the ground floor rooms were beautiful with a guide in each room providing detailed information if needed, the house is not too large and has a real nice feel to it, the gardens are certainly worth a visit and although our visit was late September there was still lots to see, NT cafe on site served light meals and cakes etc. Definitely worth a visit and as usual with NT properties very knowledgeable volunteers.I hope that sometime in the future more of the rooms will be open

This is a fascinating place to visit. It is not very large but the rooms contains some very good quality furnishings. The gardens were still colourful even when I visited in mid OctoberThe room stewards were all most helpful and were happy to answer questions and give a lut background just about this delightful building.
