I visited this branch on 04 February 2025, there customer service was very poor and was very bad experience.
I wanted to open a current account, I have already started the online application and it get to the stage to do my ID and it did not go through. I decided to go the branch with all my ID to the branch.
The staff that attended to me took all my ID for one hour, the staff ask for my share code to verify my right live in UK and to work in the UK and he confirmed the check was successful with the Home Office.
After so many of hours of waiting, the staff confirmed they cannot open an account for me because I did not have access to public funds in the UK.
I was very shocked, I even explained to him do you know the meaning of not to have access to public funds, is not having access to benefits. I told him you can see I am working full work and I paying tax in this country for 19 years now.
I think nationwide bank is encouraging people to having benefits before they can open account with them.
I am very shocked to hear this from a bank that have expectation in the UK industry.
I'm inviting the senior management to look into this matter, I ready to execute this matter further and get proper information on this matter.
I'm very disappointed with Nationwide Bank.

Don't ring up incase carol answers this woman is so rude her telephone manner is shocking sits on chair all day then too much trouble press a button avoid ringing in future
