Never stayed in the hotel, just stayed for dinner for 7 of us. Food was an hours wait and terrible.

Where do I begin?? When we checked in, we were quite impressed with the room. We decided it seemed nice, so we booked an extra night...BIG MISTAKE!!! However, the next day, on returning after 15h00, we found that the duvet had been pulled roughly over the pillows and a new toilet roll in the bathroom. Other than that, NOTHING else was done. Dirty cups and glasses were left, and coffee, teabags, milk, and sugar were not replenished. We had to go to reception to ask for more. Nobody was at reception, but you could ring a bell where somebody from the pub would come and assist you. When we complained about the room not being done, we were told that if you stayed more than one day, the room was just done roughly and not cleaned thoroughly. And this is from a supposed 4-star hotel! I have stayed in 2-5 Star hotels around the world, and I can honestly say this has NEVER happened in all the years I have travelled!Food & drinks: The food was not up to par and definitely not value for money. The drinks, on the other hand, were value for money.

I'm in my fiftieth year of drinking in the Bay Horse and can't speak highly enough of the management and staff. There's always a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Good food , good beer and good times.

So staying in hotel you have to ring bell for entry, someone passed me said you have to go through bar. At reception, I asked why they said lock, but you can buzz I had, but they have to go to bar to open. On the first floor, there is no lift. Also funny smell in reception and up the stairs. Dinner all meals look good value I ordered steak as on offer today. Medium rare when it came out very pale, and not all outside had been heated chips, and peppercorn sauce cold chips were also very pale and limp. Recooked second one was hot and tasty, very busy here

Rooms clean and tidy. Staff very helpful and attentive nothing too much trouble. Special thank you to the two ladies who helped with a medical emergency on 20th August and the manager. Food in pub very good and again staff very helpful.

Fantastic staff ? beautiful room clean spotless considering thats my job bk home nothin was too much bother recommend it to everyone nice quiet room im not a breakfast person but presentation was good jus need to improve the mushrooms extremely tiny and minimalistic sausage not good but im very fussy enjoyed my time there

10/10, we had a fabulous stay. Staff went above and beyond. What was set to be an extremely busy day with the races their attentiveness never wavered. Food was served promptly and was exceptional. Our room was clean and all necessary equipment provided including iron, hair dryer, usb ports, kettle, shampoo/body wash, towels etc. Great nights sleep. Breakfast was tasty, perfect end to our stay. We will be back soon. General Manager and team are a credit to the pub.

My wife and myself stayed here as we went to a evening race meeting at Haydock park, arrived about 1.30 and had a really nice meal, my wife had steak and I had gammon. We collected our room cards and went up to the room. The room itself was lovely, bed was comfy, there was tea & coffee making facilities, bathroom had a shower over the bath, and there was an iron & ironing board. Breakfast was a choice of cereals, a cooked breakfast and continental breakfast with a choice of tea, coffee and juice, there was a toaster on the table. Overall we had an enjoyable stay, staff were all friendly and service was great and I would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel due to being close to the Haydock Races which we had booked. We were pleasantly surprised that The Bay Horse Hotel was amazing. - Free parking - Pub opposite - ideal on Friday night when we got there for some food and drink. - Comfy large king size bed. - close to shops. - very friendly staff. We couldn't think of a better place to stop in Haydock. The next time we are close to this location, we will be back.
