aka The Parish Church. Well worth a visit, highest point of the town. Wonderful, historically important building. The Romans were here, followed by Jacobites, Royalists & Parliamentarians. Battle of Wigan Lane. There is a Plague Pit and ancient burial sites within the grounds. Pity that so few services are held here, and do little s done to promote its' ancient features & artefacts (inc a Roman altar and statue of a god). Pull your socks up C of E!!

One of the nicest, most ornate churches I've been in. Incredible details everywhere you look. If you like angels then you'll love it here-they're on the walls, above doors, in windows, on walls.... Absolutely beautiful. Lovely, welcoming people inside too.

The photograph of the plaque over the side door at Wigan parish church is there to commemorate the battle of Wigan lane between the round heads and the cavaliers in the 17/18 century! The art shop is in halgate down the side of the crofters arms off market Street in Wigan town centre.
