the location is ok, but the guy at the reception is very aggressive with customers, the receptionist saw me smoking drugs, be careful with him, I think that if the guy at the reception had changed to someone else, it would be ok

Bed was comfy. Nice place. Could do with refurbishment but it was fine for us as it was convenient to what we needed.

The Reception guy was friendly and helpful can't complain, but honestly the rooms do not look like these in the pictures at all...my room had a hole in my wall, the head board in my bed was scratched I think by some animal or something, it was totally destroyed, the shower head was ripped from the wall but for this price I can't complain?
They're clean alright but it needs maintenance top to bottom... Everything is old and outdated.
Plus the front door lock to the hotel had the ducted tape on it...

We stayed there for 2 nights while visiting my family. The first room was ok, slightly damp bathroom mouldy ceiling tiles but the tv didn?t work. So we were offered to change rooms. The 2nd room was damp, smelly and the bedding was damp too. I have sleep apnea and have to sleep with a CPAP mask and breathing in damp mouldy air, isn?t great! We paid extra for a ?cooked? breakfast that was undercooked bacon and sausages that everyone else had for free! Resided the issue, the owner said he would rectify but the next day there was no full cooked breakfast. Just 3 eggs! Give the owner a chance to sort the issue but he just said we threatened him when we asked for an update. Then he offered us a £25 refund, which shows he knows the issues are valid but we declined as it was an insult! We stayed at the travel lodge for 2 dights after this and it was perfect and was cheaper!! Book somewhere else is my advice
Rooms: Mostly Dated, damp, dirty, mouldy, stains on walls

The guy behind the counter who checked us in and made breakfast was absolutely amazing! So friendly and just a nice person. We'll done mate. Breakfast is a must there! Everything you want and need. Rooms were super warm (I went on a frosty day) bath and shower and all the works. The location is a bit iffy but there's not much anyone can do about that. Once you find it you will enjoy it. Well done people ?

Just returned from a one night stop over at Happy Guests Lodge. Firstly the on line pictures give the impression of a modern looking hotel. The reality is the establishment is dated and looks nothing like the brightly coloured photos. We were greeted by 2 people behind the counter. There was no warm greeting and the male made us feel quite uneasy. Firstly wanting to take photos of our online booking emails. It all seemed disjointed. Then he went on to tell us to make sure we took our key fob out with us otherwise we would have to keep ringing the bell until they come down from their living quarters, like that would be an inconvenience. We booked with our friends and we were put on different floors. We were on the ground floor. It was minus 2 outside and snowing and there was no heating in the corridors. It didn't get better either in the rooms. No heating. We had no coffee and only one cup. My partner had to go and ask for another and some supplies. The room was cold and dated. The shower ran hot and cold. The pillows were cheap and the duvet didn't fill the duvet cover and was very thin. The mattress had seen better days and was uncomfortable. The cold in the room was becoming unbearable so I had to go and ask for the heating to be put on and the female receptionist turned the dial to overide the system. The heating then only stayed on for approximately 1 hour then was off and didn't come back on and like I said it was snowing outside so we had a cold night. After a terrible nights sleep we went down to breakfast and to say it was disappointing is an understatement. It was self service. The cereal and juice was good but that was the highlight. The cooked breakfast consisted of 3 pans being kept warm with bacon, sausage and beans. You then had boiled eggs in a dish. That is it. The sausages were of the cheapest kind and I didn't eat mine as they looked anemic and uncooked. I didn't appreciate having to take shell off the eggs either before I could eat them. There were no napkins. The bread were still in the plastic bags and everyone was opening them and putting their hands into the bags which was disgusting and unhygienic. The bread itself was stale and hard round the edges. The plates were also child size but that didn't matter as there wasn't enough on offer to fill a normal size plate. There was now a different male over seeing things he came into the breakfast room, wiped the floor with a towel with his boot and wiped the surfaces with a paper napkin which he had now brought in after being asked by another guest. No tables were wiped down after patrons had left. We left the hotel very disappointed and vowing never to returned. We paid £78 for two people and I feel ripped off.
Rooms: Outdated and very cold
Food & drinks: Awful
Noteworthy details: The hotel doesn't look as advertised

The manager was super helpful and kind (hence the four stars on service). We travelled without a car, so it wasn't great in terms of location, getting back to the city centre and bus station was tough without booking an uber to the nearest railway station..I recommend using Rome to rio, if you want a good priced hotel like this...
The breakfast was a standard English breakfast with cereal options and coffee. It was simple but really nice. I sat at the bar stool, got a nice view of the greenery and car park and managed to down 3 coffees ?
I couldn't manage to figure out the shower but the manager was really kind and helped us. (It was simple, I can't lie ? quiet literally a flick of a switch)
The only flaw was cleanliness- like the bathroom wasn't completely clean and the water jug I was given wasn't..so that would be my only criticism. So if you're a neat freak this hotel isn't for you just yet..
Definitely recommend this place if you drive and want to go to a well run local Manchester Hotel

The room was ok, clean, free tea and coffee, the bed was relatively comfortable.
The service on the other hand, bloody awful was an understatement, I booked the hotel as it had a large car park, we where staying here as I was racing at Oulton Park a few miles up the road.
On arrival we were informed that to park the van and trailer as well as a car we would be charged extra. Even though the car park was empty.
The rude guy on the front desk said he wasn't sure how many more people would be arriving (at 8.30pm on a Friday).
Needless to say when we left at 7am the next morning the car park was still empty. The chap behind the desk was just being an idiot!
Won't be staying here next year!

Absolutely amazing staff. My daughter stayed here for the weekend for Creamfields. She lost contact with her friends and they allowed her to keep her room four hours over check out time for her safety. Can not thank them enough.
