I'm not a big fan of this Post Office location, it's located in Merseyway Shopping Centre's, Great Underbank which is a gloomy, dull shopping arcade, and it is located at the back of that, it's pretty much the only open location within it now, after Vision Express moved to a better location a while ago now. The location is good within the town centre but due to its' location, it is hidden.It is a pretty average Post Office, they have self-serve postage machines which I like. The inside area is pretty spacious compared to branches in other similarly sizes towns, it is a standalone location which isn't inside a WHSmith or another store, this is handy as it means you don't have to walk to the back of another store, or go up multiple floors to access the Post Office.The opening hours are poor, especially right now, where they recently changed from closing at 5:30 until 4:30, I find this is too early, especially considering that they often close before then, and cite "COVID changing the opening hours with no notice" as an excuse. I hate it when places use COVID as an excuse all the time to get away with sucky service, it's understandable as a one-off but happening regularly when the opening hours are already pretty bad? It's unacceptable.I do prefer the Hazel Grove Post Office location or Manchester city centre, these locations are often open for 90 minutes longer, and even more again at the weekend, as this location shuts at noon.There was a recent consultation to change the ownership of this Post Office where it would be relocated and managed by a different company, maybe that would have been the right decision if it did go through.3* - OK, but unreliable in the evenings.
