Take a portable fan with you and a cool box.The aircon is never on,I?ve lost 3 stone not through working out but due to the aircon NEVER WORKING?.My advice stay away

Please put the air con on!!!! I?ve not been to the gym now for over 3 weeks I just can?t do it?.. as a woman going through the menopause the heat in there is just ridiculous ? my mistake was paying annually ?

Air conditioning is rarely ever on, lets the place down massively! Facilities are great in terms of gym equipment and the sauna, jacuzzi etc. But when it?s uncomfortable to workout simply not good enough. Considering joining another gym once my annual membership expires in January.
No clue who runs this place.

Put the air con on, they only put it on if it?s like 30 degrees outside, but still gets to crazy temperatures inside especially if it?s busy

Great gym. However, the air conditioning has been off most days during the recent hot weather making it really uncomfortable to work out. Lots of people complaining. Please have it on. It's included in what we pay for.

Went for quiet swim on Sunday and found children?s classes all day with one third of pool blocked off - not a relaxing experience as well as finding out children can go in pool all week between 9 and 6 means never an adult relaxing time to go - for the money I pay each month not good calue

????? Treated Like a Freeloader After 4 Years ? Poor Management and No Accountability
After over four years as a loyal member, I?m genuinely disappointed with how GymEtc Stalybridge has treated me?especially under Karolina?s management.
The most recent issue was being denied access to the bag room, a key feature that was advertised when I joined. It?s a huge, underutilised space with mirrors and multiple punch bags?more than enough to accommodate several people or even a class.
But on this occasion, one personal trainer had taken over the entire room for just one client. That meant my early morning session, which I had planned around the room being available, was simply cancelled on the spot. I wasn?t informed of any such policy beforehand?and I don?t know if other members were either. When I raised this concern, I was met with a dismissive reply: ?PTs take priority as they pay rent.?
I wasn?t asking for special treatment?just basic clarity and respect. Instead, I was made to feel like a freeloader, not a paying customer.
Sadly, this isn?t the first time I?ve felt brushed off. I was injured when an iron bar fell from the lateral pull-down machine?a serious safety issue that could?ve caused real harm. It was never logged in the accident book, and despite submitting a written complaint, nothing was done. The unsafe handle was simply put back on, and there was no apology, no follow-up.
No complaints have ever been properly responded to. No formal reply. No accountability. Just silence.
To be clear: Jason, Angie, and Den are excellent?they?ve always treated members with respect and professionalism. But Karolina?s approach to safety and customer care is deeply concerning, and it reflects very poorly on the wider leadership.
After four years of loyalty, this entire experience has left a very bad taste.

I did a 10 week taster then joined 3 months later for the year. I love it here.
It has an excellent range of cardio and weights machines. Yes it can be busy but there?s plenty of free weights if you can?t get on the machines. It?s not too bright either. (Ladies will appreciate this more than men - probably!!). Love the ambiance of the green strip lighting upstairs and the dark walls.
Love the pool and steam room after a workout and the jacuzzi is lush.
Plenty of lockers, car parking spaces (when not busy) and I find the staff are super friendly - despite some of the reviews? ?????. You can easy spend two hours here and feel totally chilled when leaving. ?
Would love to see a digital timer on the wall upstairs ? and in the back weights room ?, more of a suggestion than a review though.
Would have liked an intro / induction to using equipment as still some I have no idea how to use ? which is reflective in my rating.

Staff refuse to turn the air conditioning on even when it?s 25 degrees outside. Some staff say it?s broke, others say it has to be a certain temperature outside before it goes on. Clearly they just don?t want to use it. It was on all winter but they don?t turn it on in summer when it?s actually needed. Toilets are also too hot to get changed all year round and they smell of urine. No idea who runs this place. Changes needed
