Have shopped at the Sale store since it opened a few years ago and have been mostly very happy. However today was different as I was stopped from using the self-scan machines by a young asssistant. His reason was that I was using a large trolley and it was too big and I would get in the way and hold up others. I was made to go and queue at the manned checkouts. Whilst queuing, all of the self scan stations became free! My shop was not particularly large at £60.00 and I have self-scanned using the same trolleys on dozens of occasions. if this is a new store policy it is a bad one as it cost me extra time, extra loading, unloading and packing of my shopping and a whole lot of patience. It has also cost ALDI a large chunk of my goodwill. Can somebody please tell me if this is official company wide policy or just a quirk of this store?
