I visited Whittard Manchester with a friend and was extremely disappointed by the way we were treated. My friend, who is Asian, accidentally poured milk into a tasting cup, not realizing it was meant for white chocolate. I had done the exact same thing earlier, yet nothing was said to me. However, when my friend did it, a staff member abruptly approached us, causing her to spill the drink. Instead of handling the situation calmly, the worker then proceeded to single her out, pointing out that she had milk on her hands and had spilled it, making her feel embarrassed in front of other customers.
Despite us offering to clean up the spill, we were dismissed, disregarded, and told to leave. The difference in treatment between my friend and me was glaringly obvious, and it felt like she was being typecast based on her race. This was an incredibly upsetting experience, and it?s unacceptable for any business to treat customers this way.
A simple misunderstanding could have been handled with professionalism and respect, but instead, we left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I wouldn?t recommend this location to anyone who expects fair and equal treatment.

Friendly staff and a wide range of samples to try

I went into the market street store today to have a look around. As I walked in and headed over to the samples, I was stopped by a member of staff who very rudely asked me whether I was going to buy anything or if I was just there for the free hot chocolate. While saying this he was blocking me from the free sample area. Then he proceeded to let another customer try some.
Previously staff have been so helpful and have been happy for me to try samples, whether or not I was purchasing from them. Won't be coming here again, if this employee is working.

I love whittards and their high quality products. I often go into this store to top up on mint tea, flavoured coffee and seasonal hot chocolate. Usually, the staff are so lovely and helpful but the last few times I?ve been in there?s been an employee that has been so rude, makes people feel really uncomfortable for trying the free hot chocolate samples! The last time I went in, I saw her making fun of customers for trying the samples to her colleague! It has really put me off going into store and would rather buy online which is a shame given how lovely everyone else is!

Their tea shop is delicious and varied, the service is excellent, and you can try the tea with two pills, but if they provide a service of selling ready-made tea, hot or cold, I would prefer the one who drinks delicious tea while walking in the markets.

What an amazing place loved it every part of it the coffee beans, the tea, the herbs, wonderful prices and definitely going there next year. Lovely service, very helpful in details.

Had a fantastic visit here today. Aside from taste testing some of the products, the staff were awesome enough to demonstrate one the tea infusers to us (which was practically magical), and let us taste test that tea as well ?. The tea is superb. The staff are fantastic and knowledgeable. I will be visiting again ?.

I can't thank Hannah enough for her phenomenal assistance at Whittard Chelsea in Manchester. She was incredibly knowledgeable about Whittard's tea varieties and took the time to understand my preferences before making recommendations. I discovered a new favorite blend that I wouldn't have found on my own. If you're in need of guidance when it comes to tea selection, Hannah is your go-to! Hannah & Holly's friendly demeanor made the whole experience delightful. Highly recommend :)
