Spectacular location, in the most beautiful corner of the city, next to Shambles square and in front of the cathedral. I had a single room with breakfast included for two nights, for a total price of 152 pounds (about ?178). The building is old, and the room had carpet in fair condition and a floor that creaked constantly. My room overlooked the pubs in the square, and as Saturday and Sunday nights passed, the noise was considerable, although fortunately it ended soon. Otherwise, spacious room, with TV, heating, ironing equipment, kettle, complimentary coffee and tea, bedside table and a chair. The bed was very comfortable. It did not have a closet, but rather a metal structure with hangers for clothes. There were no dispensers in the bathroom, only a bar of soap, and a shower with little pressure. As is usual in this type of building, there was no elevator and the stairs were very narrow with very high steps. Very friendly receptionists; As a curiosity, and even though I had paid for the room in advance, they forced me to present a credit card and charged me one pound, which they later returned to me. The breakfast was not bad; coffee, bottled juice, toast, and all the components of the typical English breakfast: beans, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, hashbrown, mushrooms, etc. etc In summary, and despite the negative points already mentioned, it is not a bad option; In relation to quality-price it is almost impossible to find something better.

Ideal location for centre Manchester, opposite cathedral. everything else a real let down.Rooms: Room was such a let down, so small bathroom and need of a refurbishment, walls so thin you could hear next room turing on their shower.

Great, friendly staff, great breakfast. Sadly, the en suite for my room, in the Cathedral rooms, was a joke. The wash basin overhangs the toilet, as the picture shows!

Breakfast was poor rooms were very basic as trying to fill the kettle up resulted in water going all over the floor due to only having a sink to fill the kettle however the lady at the reception was very lovely and friendlyRooms: Very basic for what you pay for

Very very friendly service from the moment I checked in. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very nice and comfortable it was all I really wanted. The bar downstairs is excellent and the food delicious. The Bartender Mike was brilliant and really friendly. I spent an afternoon chatting and he really made the experience all the better. Will definitely be back.

Staff amazing, location amazing. The rooms are good and the beds are comfy. However, there were 6 of us in our room. And we only had one fork between us, then we kept catching our feet on the divider between the carpet and the vinyl flooring. I mean, we could have sued, but we're not going to do that. Because we had the best night out in manchester, the staff were absolutely amazing and helped get us a Jug for the bath, as there are no showers. Unless you go upstairs to the communal showers which don't stay one temperature and are quite mouldy. However when you really need a shower you just use it. I don't think I'd stay here again. But I did make some amazing memories here with the girls. Also the breakfast is pretty good.Be warned , there are a lot of stairs total and no help available for heavy baggage.

Good location in the center of Manchester, very clean rooms and very positive attention from the staff. We included breakfast within the reservation and the buffet was very good. I would repeat.Rooms: Very clean and spacious.

If you're looking for a cheap hotel to rest your head after a night out and not fussed about showering, creature comforts or small details then this is great. Great price, the staff are lovely, great food, great location but the hotel itself is less than par!The communal showers were covered in pink mould and damp, they were so bad I didn't bother showering as I didn't want to touch anything! See photos! The room toilets and communal toilets have no sanitary bins (we were a group of 6 girls in the big apartment room and 2 girls were in need of one)No lift and the stairs are narrow. The apartment room is spacious and perfect for a group but the bathroom is between the living room and bedroom so there's zero privacy, the screws in the metal runner between the lino and carpet were poking out and we hurt ourselves a few times walking over them.It wasn't the cleanest but the bits that mattered (beds) were fine and very comfortable (even the sofa beds were comfy)We did have an amazing weekend and as I say the staff and food were incredible (the staff were a right laugh and so friendly) but due to the cleanliness we will not be back.
