First ever Primark experience!
July 2025 by laura baskeyfield
The atmosphere was great and the decoration was so pretty. But the food itself wasnt. The donuts had no flavour and was dry. The waffle was hard. The vanilla milkshake was that flavourful, but the chocolate one was. The smotth8e was really good.

Massive Primark with loads of choice across all departments. Everything?s well stocked and tidy, even when it?s busy. Found some lovely bits at great prices. One of the best Primarks I?ve been to ? worth the visit if you?re in Manchester.

Waited 30+ minutes for ground floor returns and exchange, absolutely horrendous if you want to return something! Not much effort to get more staff, in fact it went from 4 staff to 2 staff to eventually even 1 on the tills. I wish they made a self checkout for returns too.

I've been going to the beauty salon for years and the last two times there was a young lady with a very rude attitude.

Good place to find cheap clothes, accessories, home deco, etc, unfortunately the customer service is too bad!
I believe such a big shop needs to have toilets, and all tills open, as the waiting time is quite long.
Spring 2023 is out.

Waited on the queue 20 minutes to pay with cash, just 2 staff on tills which eventually became 3, whilst there's 4 staff on the self checkouts which never had a queue...

This Primark is absolutely massive! It stretches across multiple floors and somehow always manages to be bustling with customers, especially at weekends! There is plenty of affordable fashion, however do not wait til even the next day because lots of things either sell out or are taken away very quickly. Now, the quality of these products is very poor. I once bought a pair of trousers and after somebody wore them on a slide, the backside of them was completely ruined! The fabric was all coming apart, even after just one go! This is not the first experience of bad quality. I guess that is why the price is so insanely low! I mean, you could buy a pair of shorts for three pounds! I don't shop at Primark anymore, unless I need something really cheap, really quick. The queues at the checkout are really, really long, so if you just need a few things, you're going to have to wait a while.

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding a distressing experience I had at your Market street branch on 02/06/2025 This incident involved multiple members of staff but mainly your Manger named Rob, he left me feeling discriminated against and deeply upset. As someone with a hidden disability, I expected a level of understanding and support that, unfortunately, was not provided.
While browsing, I found a pair of sandals in size 3, which appeared to be the last pair available. However, they were visibly worn ? likely from other customers walking around in them. I approached the self-scan area and spoke to a very kind assistant, who was understanding when I mentioned that I have a hidden disability affecting my balance. She kindly offered to speak to a manager to see if anything could be done about the condition of the sandals.
While I was paying for my other items, Rob the manager came over. I explained the situation, but Rob was rude, dismissive, and spoke down to me. Rob acknowledged the sandals were worn from customer use but refused to reduce the price. When I asked about checking for availability in other colours or the same style, he told me to ?go and ask yourself,? despite knowing I was in the middle of paying.
Rob then began walking away very quickly, indicating I should follow him. Due to my disability, I was unable to keep up. This showed a complete lack of consideration for the condition I had already explained. Another manager witnessed this, and instead of offering support, bluntly told me to ?take a breather? and said he was waiting for me. By then, Rob has disappeared. I was left crying and feeling humiliated.
I eventually had to ask another staff member to check the stockroom, and she kindly confirmed there were no other size 3s available in that style or other colours.
I felt extremely mistreated as someone with a disability. Despite clearly communicating my condition, it was ignored, and I was left distressed and unsupported. This incident has had a lasting emotional impact, and I feel it reflects a serious lack of staff training and awareness regarding both hidden and visible disabilities.
I respectfully request that Primark conduct a formal investigation into this matter and that staff at this branch receive proper disability awareness training. Customers with disabilities should be treated with empathy, respect, and dignity at all times.
As a retailer you have a duty of care toward your consumers and your staff.
Also, theirs the Equality Act which protect me against discrimination in education, work and services provided for me. In this particular's case I have been discrimination, by the services provided to me .

Primark in Manchester city centre is definitely something. The store is huge, spread over multiple floors, and always extremely crowded, especially on weekends.
One thing I consistently notice is that some escalators are often out of service, which causes inconvenience given the number of people moving around the store. It becomes particularly frustrating during peak hours when foot traffic is overwhelming.
Another downside is the cleanliness. There is often a noticeable amount of litter left by customers on the floor, and unfortunately, it just stays there?people walk over it, and there?s no clear way for anyone to help clean up. There are no visible bins or cleanup efforts in sight, which gives the impression that the store is neglected.
Today, I was particularly shocked by the length of the queue on the lower ground floor ? it stretched over 150 meters. It was Saturday, during peak shopping hours, yet less than half of the tills were open. That felt like poor planning on the management?s part.
That said, I want to highlight and sincerely appreciate the staff working at the tills. Despite the chaos, they were incredibly professional, quick, and efficient. They handled the situation impressively and did their best to serve every customer as fast as possible.
To sum up: the store needs better crowd management, cleaner facilities, and more active cash desks during busy periods ? but the hardworking staff deserve recognition.
