Pollen is undoubtedly the best bakery in town!

I went last weekend with some friends for a late breakfast. Food was nice! Two things annoyed me a little though:
1: everything we were served was given to us on/in disposable plates/cups, and then thrown away in a bin outside directly in front of us. Seems a real shame for such a nice bakery to be acting so unsustainably
2: we ordered a salad which came pre-sealed in a box (a little meal-deal-ish tbh) and was very small for the money
Food was great, people working there were lovely...but please look at the disposable stuff again. Really made the whole experience feel worth much less than it ought to deserve could easily be :-)

Lovely atmosphere both inside and out and the staff were super friendly and chatty. We just got coffee to-go but took a seat outside in the sun while it was being made. Drinks were brought to us quickly and with a smile. Lovely spot

Delicious food!! So good! I would have bought one of their massive sourdough breads that look so tasty but I had no room to take it. A little warm inside, a fan would do well there on hot sunny days. Free self-water, kind service, take your time here as on busy days it is slower. Beautiful being by the riverway.

Lovely location for a bakery however cannot justify the price. I love supporting independent businesses and am happy to pay a little more but £5.30 for a 1 shot dirty chai is unreasonable especially considering how small the drink was. I did intend to get some food however felt a bit ripped off from the drink so didn?t order any.
Rating reflects value for money.

A stable venue for Ancoats and the surrounding area. This is a busy little place, with friendly staff and some really nice looking food and drink.
If possible, would suggest going outside of peak times, especially if you wanna sit in (it gets busy and people love it)

The food was outstanding but sadly the service wasn't. Ordered a flat white and a cappuccino which was 'dumped' on my table with no explanation of which drink was in which cup. They looked exactly the same in take away cups. Upon asking the server she said....oh there's no difference in a flat white and cappuccino. Training needs to be provided to distinguish between the two drinks as they are definitely not the same! One has an extra shot of coffee and is stronger. If they were the same drink, we would have ordered two cappuccinos or two flat whites. I was disappointed as I had to go ask another waitress who told us to wait in the queue and ask the coffee batista!. Oh boy! I just want to have my drink and know what it is....is that too much to ask from a cafe?

The coffee was good. However, little sitings were indoor and we sit outside and it was very windy.

On the pricier side but the quality does speak for itself

Pollen is always a solid, consistent choice as a bakery/cafe. Whilst some of their prices have increased to the point where you question why does a small ceasar sandwich needs to cost £9, they still maintain their consistency and quality of products.
My favourite Pollen purchase is their bread (and probably the only reasonably priced thing in there, alongside the croissants).
You can't go wrong with them, but just bear in mind that the quality is reflected in what you pay.
